Holiday Newsletter is out.
It should be appearing in your inbox soon, if you have the little "Yes, I want to subscribe to the News/Event list" box checked in your account information.
Please keep an eye for it in spam folders, too, and UN-flag it from spam if at all possible (mark explicitly as not-spam). There are a lot of lazy people who can't seem to use the "un-subscribe" button, and instead just junk the newsletter, which then influences it being default-junked for everyone on the entire provider (like all of Yahoo, or all of Gmail).
For those who want to see it now, or who don't get the newsletter, you can also see the web version here.

Congrats! Hope to see lots of returning pilots over the free play period.
Well I won't be returning because I was last subscribed less than 60 days ago, how silly!
At one point in time, years ago, we had a serious issue with people dropping subs around the holidays, because they knew the promo was coming up. We were straight month-to-month back then, and it teetered us on the edge of oblivion. So, no, it was not silly to add the 60-day thing, which mitigated the problem. I'd rather get rid of it, but we haven't yet. Whatever.
Yes I gathered that was the reason.
It's silly in my case because I'd come back and say hi on my main for maybe an hour or two over christmas as well as the sub month I bought previously to say hi in november only to play for a week or so.
My view is that the correct approach would instead be to credit everyone who is subbed with an additional week of sub and give the week to everyone who isn't. That way there is no advantage to cancelling just before. But that's a commercial decision for you.

That would not have mitigated the historical situation. And I think you're misunderstanding why people would cancel. It wasn't about whether they would get a "free week".
Anyway, moving along..
