Improved High Drain Power Cell -mission lost?

Dec 18, 2015 scham link
I've been trying to find the IHDPC-mission.

I have done the "Advanced Combat Training II" -mission
and can't find "Combat Training Program Development" -mission, which I think is the next one to do.

I've been running a lot of starter manufacturing missions and other ones, trying to find the IHDPC mission. My faction is Itani and I've been searching the mission in UIT-space.

Please, phaserlight or someone, help me :)

Thanks in advance!

You also need to do "manufacturing help needed" and "more manufacturing help needed", which is unlocked after 4 basic manufacturing and mining missions are complete. I don't recall those names though.

I have done some refinery missions, but the "Transparent Metal" is no longer in my mission list.

Could it be beacause of this (Quote from vo-wiki.com -> Missions -> The Refinery Missions):
"
After four of these missions have been completed a sixth mission, "Transparent Metal", becomes available (so long as you have not yet completed "Xithricite Refinery Introduction").
"

I have done Xithricite Apothecarium missions and received one "gift".

So.. did I understand it right: "Once I've done the xith-refinery mission, "Transparent Metal" becomes unavailable"?

Those missions are not a part of the IHDPC mission tree.

@Kierky

Same wiki page says this:
"Once "Transparent Metal" is completed the player is pointed toward a further series of missions available in the Verasi star system that eventually grant access to the Extreme Drain Power Cell. "

Or way more useful.

This is the prerequisites for the manufacturing help needed mission.

First, there are two different cells mentioned in this thread: the Improved High Drain Power Cell is not the same as the Extreme Drain Power Cell. Second, you are thinking about this too hard; why not play the missions as they are presented to you? That's how the tree was designed.

"Transparent Metal" is what I call a "pointer mission"; something that served more of a purpose before Incarnate implemented the 'all missions everywhere' principle. Basically, it "points the way" to a further set of missions on completion; these missions are available from day 1, and if the player jumps ahead and gets started on them first it accomplishes the same thing. The pointer mission is no longer available in this case because it references some topics as though the player hadn't completed the following missions. "Transparent Metal" is just like the missions that came before it, only at the end it mentions a group in Verasi the player may be interested in checking out because s/he has the right skill set.

This may sound complex, there is a lot of Boolean logic, and I think some players read the wiki and get anxiety when they see a mission is gone 'forevers!' because of a choice. If you take nothing else away from this, whether or not you complete "Transparent Metal" is unimportant to acquiring the EDPC. I have some complex trees, but I try very hard to never lead the player down a blind alley.

This is just a symptom of the way the mission trees work in this game. Elite powercell manufacturing is not something one would even consider to be the natural result of a mission tree spanning combat training, manufacturing, and mining.

I realize the point of your missings is to allow (/force) people to discover things from their own personal exploration, but it has the unfortunate side affect of confusing and frustrating players to the point where they'd rather do something else.

What's missing is both the hint or indication of something "cool" you are working towards with any various mision, and also something indicating what missions are tied together. Often new missions will be revealed that are part of the tree but only in ways that are clear (and even then, only somewhat) to someone if they continue playing the mission tree immediately. If you log off and come back to the game the next day, or next week, you can easily forget what mission led to what, and what missions are new and what aren't.

Maybe some people play missions just for the sake of playing missions, but I would guess most people do them to progress in the game and gain access to content and achievements.

whoops, I opened the Pandora's box :)

@Kierky: Many thanks !!

@Phaserlight: I mentioned both HDPC and IHDPC, because I think HDPC is prerequisite to the improved one. Thanks for making things more clear to me. I'll try not to "abuse" the wiki and the mission tree informations next time.

@greenwall: Yes, it would be nice if missions would have a hint, what they are going to reveal. In the other hand, it's cool to explore VO 'verse and found something cool "by accident".

You are correct, but the EDPC is not the HDPC. Now there are three different cells mentioned in this thread.

@Phaserlight: Yes, I just found out the EDPC cell from wiki after writing my last message.
