Ok, so I've played this awesome game for exactly a year now!! Yay!!, ahem as I was free to play Half of that time I felt an overwhelming guilt of not supporting devs, so I pulled up my pants and bought this game, I am really happy for what I got, but with that said. The devs have increased the amount of crystals and made hive queens spit crystals at them, I think that this is a very splendid add in the game and the free to play community should give a hand to guild software!
The first 2 months of my time in VO was free to play. I am impressed by how much the f2p model has improved. It definitely gives new players ample time to decide wether or not they are staying long term. Though many factors of VO and its player base may drive new players away, the current f2p model is much better than it was in 2013 when I started playing. Cheers GS
When I first came back to play VO again after my last break, I was also F2P for a little while while I got the hang of things again, I've also used the lite account system and think the recent changes are welcome. Sure, when I have a bit of extra cash I do tend to sub multiple times to show support (even though I do get whiny and pissy from time to time) because guild have made the (imho) best space shooter/trading/etc game since Wing Commander Privateer.
So yes, thank you for the F2P system. The recent changes have only made things better. :)

Thanks everyone! Glad to hear it :). There are still quite a few more changes to F2P that are planned, we're still trying to figure out how to make the whole system "work" for us, but I think the balance of additional changes will also be well received. Free-to-play is a pretty complicated thing to figure out, for any developer, but I think we're making good progress. Happy to hear you guys agree.
Besides the f2p part in VO (which you guys are making remarkable progress with),VO has been an amazingly fun time for me just one more month and I'll have a PC and a sub.Thank you devs for spending some much time on making this game awesome as time passes.I'm sure you guys work on fixing bugs and such most of your week,if I had kids I would kill myself If I barely saw them (that is you guys the "devs" have kids.) So yeah thank you for making this kickass MMO.
yea sure fun but no ftp on pc no thanks this game get a 1 of 5 stars i wont pay to play on pc
You're going to give 1/5 stars, presumably in a mobile app store, because the game is not free on the PC? Help me understand this.
I think it's called an over developed sense of entitlement.
/me whispers
He got used to WoT...

I like how the rating system intended to convey your opinion of the quality of the game has been used as a limp middle finger because you can't play for free.
Pretty much.
"1/5 stars because I can't read the description due to the fact I'm a pre-pubescent idiot who hasn't got a job and think I'm entitled to everything; free."

Petman, as much as I care about noob retention, I also care about the ability for noobs to dedicate enough time and effort into this game to give me a good fight when I pirate them. You would obviously not be able to do that, given you gave up before you even began. So mate, don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya!
Pirating f2p newbs is a gargantuan waste of time because they are poor as fuck and never carry anything valuable.
Just boom them instead. They will NEVER make you break a sweat either because pvp on android is a fucking joke.

I've battled semi-descent mobile players. You can use controller and such on mobile. Their are ways to be semi-on-par with PC players, it just takes a lot of practice and determination
Aaaanyway, this initially grateful and pleasant thread is now neither of those things.
I think we can agree that petman1 is dead to us and move on as he probably has.

Yeah, as if most android newbs would think of using a contoller. Most of them are little kids borrowing dad's tablet for 10 minutes.
It is poor logic to continuously assume that all those who want F2P are broke without jobs.
There is a lot of content on phones and PC and many want to make sure they actually like it before they purchase anything especially given the magnitude of what is available out there. Too many choices actually.
I played this game on PC and am just waiting for more players to arrive. I have not re-subscribed for a long time for this reason.
The F2P concept is proven and a sound business practice. Incentives do drive traffic and paying customers and there is no question about that.
I look forward to seeing an increase in player activity on a regular basis and then I'll resubscribe too.
When I can login to a free trial and buzz around looking for people; and then find them whenever I log in then I will resubscribe.
That is about all I can say about it.
Without an active players base ALL MORPHS are just not that fun. Too many other choices.
The first thing people mostly want to know is how many people are playing and online at any given time.
This of course must be hidden in top secret encrypted graphs that mean nothing anyone who looks at them.
They don't care if they are free or paid subscribers that is not really the question.
Paid subscribers will also ask how many. We see it in 100, we see it in the forums.
It's the main question mostly even if not asked they are all wondering it.
No one tells them anything and they are referred to the crafty graph that means ahhhh this company is shady they won't tell us anything up front. They want me to subscribe to find this out.
Even if that is not the case people will be thinking they are being lied to and don't even want to expose their payment info to them.
I don't think this is what is intended by doing this but it's something that is relative to player base attraction.

You realise how you're contributing to the vicious cycle by stating this? It's a stupid reason anyway, there are always methods of getting players in a certain area.

Be careful what you wish for, son. When this game is filled to the brim with noisy, immature 12 year old kids borrowing their dads' tablet, you will miss the present quietness dearly.
I give petman1 0 stars
