Several years ago, after a lot of searching and leaving a game I played for years due to its "pay to win setup", I found Vendetta Online and immediately fell in love with it. It WAS the game I would have made if I had the "smarts" to make a game. I was not even bothered by the Pirates, as they are a part of the game, and even respected some like Savet for his honorable treatment of others.
BUT, the game has changed TOO MUCH over the years and it is no longer the fun game I fell in love with. A player shooting another with Admired and above ratings in monitored space and NFZ would get a huge hit on their standings which required time hauling trade goods or shooting bots to correct. Now, thanks to the "vocal minority", a player can home in Verasi C-4 and blast a player coming into the sector, monitored space, and get a Temp KOS that last 15 min or until their death. They then let the station defense kill them, and since they homed in that station, they come right back out to shoot the same player again. I keep hearing "No Place is Safe in VO" as an excuse for not protecting players, even in monitored space, but this is just plain silly and a lot have left game due to it, lots of them new players that we are trying to attract to the game.
Also, some now use their Furies, a weapon for sure, to kill in NFZ and get NO PENALTY for it. This is totally wrong, and I understand it is being addressed.
There are also too many other things that have changed in this game to the point I am now seriously looking for another game, as are several others that I know of. If it looks like a WIN for the RATS, not all RATS are Pirates, then it is a WIN for them. If enough of us faithful VO lovers leave due to the actions of the "vocal minority" then they WIN the game which may then fold due to lack of support and funds.
And for those in the "vocal minority" that may not know me, since I post very seldom on this Forum like a lot of other VO lovers, I AM A PROUD MEMBER OF TGFT and deny all the "slander" you all are flaming on 100. I seldom post in it either.
PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THIS ANOTHER ANTI TGFT FORUM POST. This is about the game and the direction it is headed that makes the game a lot less fun for the majority of players.

Amen, bro.
You are part of the vocal community lol.
You do know they still get a faction hit for killing admired players? They have to be admired by the local faction, IE Axia admired at Axia stations, Valent at Valent. (This has always been the case) Just because you are UiT admired does not mean that UiT themselves will care, unless the kill happens in UiT monitored space of course. (Which Verasi C-4 is not and never was)
The 15 mins temp KOS thing is added to this, it does not replace it. So is the 24h temp KOS deal.
These are additions, not replacements. The rest of the KOS/admired killing system remains in place.

lolol Boanerges is pissy about combat in a combat game.
Typical TGFT "Holier than thou" nonsense. You think that the world should protect you because you have standings or affiliations that you consider to be more lawful than others.
Here's a newsflash, life isn't fair, and expecting combat to be fair and honorable in this game is simply just foolish.

This is simply untrue. Go home in Verasi C-4 and shoot something in the NFZ, it'll reassign your home station to your nation capitol. Which in no situation is the same station you're in. If you do this at your nation capitol, it'll reassign you to Corvus. Get your facts straight before you go on a big forum tirade.

You're making this about TGFT by making the statement "I AM A PROUD MEMBER OF TGFT". If you think that the faction system is being abused, then you should make a support ticket outlining how. In the case it's by design, you should post a suggestion to rectify the issue. Anything else is pure whining and propaganda.

Here's a fair suggestion, Boan. Have you thought about leaving TGFT and joining TRI or some other neutral guild so that you can play the game as you intended to? Several of your former guild members have done so, and they appear to be enjoying the game more being outside of the TGFT/SKV bullshit conflict.
SKV doesn't make war with those other guilds and grant them full, free access to stations.

This part of your post is completely incorrect. Faction penalties have not been eased up on, and in fact have become slightly more harsh (which is good). Killing you in monitored space results in the same faction hit it always did. And if any of that damage is done within the NFZ, temp-kos is also applied, same as it used to be. Only three things have changed. One is that the temp-kos can now last up to 15 minutes -- it used to go away as soon as the offender left the sector, but now it will persist for either 15 minutes or until they die. The second change is that if they are homed with any of that faction's stations, their home will be reset. So no, they cannot stay homed there when violating the NFZ. They used to be able to, but no longer can unless it is a Corvus station. The third change is that if they do kill you in "guarded" space (mainly station sectors, but also some? wormholes) that kill is tallied. Once they reach their third kill within a week in that faction's space, they get a new 24 hour temp-KOS that does not go away on death, thus removing their ability to use any of that faction's stations for 24 hours. (Except for Corvus, who do not care.)
Furthermore, your right to defend yourself has improved since the old days. It used to be that if your attacker was also admired, killing him in self defense would result in you taking the same faction hit he would for killing you. But that is no longer the case. Now once somebody attacks you, you are given 15 minutes during which you can kill them without any penalty. IIRC even the NFZ ignores you (which I think is stupid, but whatever).

Also note that Furies will only attack if someone else attacks their owner. If someone taunted you into firing the first shot, well... (I realize that exchanging fire is also a scenario that would trigger their engagement).
Right now the Furies are kind of... odd. They don't defend themselves (only their owner), they can get away with killing in the NFZ [edit], and their kills don't count toward their owner's total.
It seems to me like a pretty good tradeoff. Kind of like having a submarine wolfpack follow you around that will loosely comply with your wishes.
A Furie will never kill an XC that hasn't undocked from a capship or station, because an XC has no weapons.
[EDIT: I realize now this is not exactly the case: see Death Fluffy's post below]

The game you love is still here. It's just shifted to other guilds. I'm going to use FAMY as an example. We have a lot of hot heads. We have a lot of cool relaxed people. We have a few people who stabilize everyone. Without these stabilizing people to moderate the tone, every guild in the universe would be KOS. Our relaxed members would be hunted. This is what's happening to TGFT. You guys have the hot heads and relaxed people, but nobody to really temper the two. The rational voices have left. I'm saying this completely outside of roleplay. What you love still exists in other guilds.
That is not the only scenario Phaser. Bumping into someone will trigger the furies to attack. Defending yourself against the furies invokes the same station defense and faction penalty as if you were attacking any other player or npc.
For myself, VO is like a marriage gone sour. Sure it was great at first, but I've been wondering why I'm still hanging around for far longer than the SKV thing. I guess it's because I hate the thought of all of the time I've put in becoming utterly meaningless, even though if I'm honest with myself, that has always been the case.

Oh, is it still this way? I was under the impression that they now will only respond to weapons fire.
For me, I think one of the reasons Vendetta has stayed fresh is because I will actively try not to play it for periods of time. I still do, but I try not to ever let my in-game goals overcome my enjoyment of the game. There was a time in my life where I could easily devote 20 hours a week to this, now it's become more like 1 hour per week. It's just where I'm at right now; I still derive the same amount of (if not more) enjoyment out of my time playing: it's just that with a growing career and almost 2 year old son, my time has become that much more valuable.

Yep. Elder got me at the Nyrius / Dau wh a few weeks back. And Big Nasty got my trident in Verasi C4 a year or so ago that way. I suspect that's how they recently got TS's Dent in F6.
Edit: They are way overpowered anyway when I can have 4 Arklans firing at my trident at the same time and not see a blip on my shields, yet the furies can deshield a trident in under 30 seconds.

Hmm, okay. I'll edit my previous statement. I can't speak toward their balance vs Tridents, as I don't own one yet.
"A Furie will never kill an XC that hasn't undocked from a capship or station, because an XC has no weapons."
Uh Phaser dude, whens the last time you fired up the ol' VO?
My first experience with this was when hauling out of Nyrius, I was solo flying an XC building my dent. YT came by with a set of furies, did the typical hail ext... then shot me down to ~30% then bumped me which triggers the furie attack and boom fried in nation space with no faction hit on YT. (or technically credit for the kill)
And that was months ago.
Now today its being used primarily in this fashion.
Oh and a neat little trick, in the Nyrus-Dau WH all you have to do is fly infront of a convoy and the target NPC will slow and 'attempt to get around the obstacle' by shifting up and down, left and right. One has to bump them and boom, makes them easy targets for the furies. Then head back, pickup a moth, collect the drops, make booko bucks, rinse and repeat. (helps to have a cargo scanner to see if its worth taking)
(UIT alt doing this on UIT bots/players. No faction hits)
"Here's a fair suggestion, Boan. Have you thought about leaving TGFT and joining TRI or some other neutral guild so that you can play the game as you intended to?"
What makes you think he doesn't?
I mean, we all get 5 alts right off the bat... most of us have 2 or more accounts which is 10+ alts. Some of us have 5 and 6 accounts.
I have alts in TGFT, FNTG, INV, TRI, Itan, BOAT, FAMY.. and had them in a couple others that have now dried up.
Playing in one really is not much different than any other.
The only difference is who I get to shoot at, and who I get shot by.
"post a suggestion to rectify the issue"
Yeah because suggestions don't get shot down by the majority and/or even with majority approval takes years to implement if they are somewhat complex.
Just for kicks, lets see what happens....

Last Tuesday? Trading in Nyrius.
I don't often use Furies, but I have successfully deployed them in PvP situations. I try to listen and respond to user feedback as much as I am able (the thread bojansplash links to in his... linked-to thread, was the catalyst for the latest PCC effort concerning the Furies).

Man, if only there was self-righteous group of vocal minorities that could get a dev's attention long enough to "fix" the issue.
Past a certain point the game offers little to nothing to someone who is not interested in combat. I think the unchecked exploit abuse of the Furies (scoring kills with bots to skirt faction penalties) and other deplorable acts by combat-centric groups against non-combat players is just exacerbating this situation.
We all want VO to be a game we can continue playing forever because we see it's potential so vividly. But it is what it is.

It's really really funny how you keep talking about the "vocal minority," yet the only ones whining and being bitter about the state of the game are those who invested heavily into TGFT.
Last week, some TGFTers claimed they are winning and having a positive KDA ratio, and they're barely affected by the conflict with SKV... guess finally the truth is coming out.
