Hi, I resub once every few years because this game was awesome when it first came out.
I always thought this game could become very big but didn't and after all these years it seems it's mainly still the same faces I saw back in 2005.
I always thought of eve-online in a sense stealing the concept and story but I noticed they tend to play dirty.
Anyways I don't mind the small population and I kind of want to come back to this game but this time attempt to help it move forward, I honestly don't know the devs well enough to know where they plan to take this game but all the dogfights I've seen in this game are "small" and I haven't been in a "large" battle yet.
I hope the few loyal people I've seen for years that are still here are willing for a potential re-start and maybe giving this game no other game has been able to give yet.

I find the last paragraph confusing. Please state what you are hoping for again.
Large battles have been fairly rare for as long as I've played since 2008. Recently, say in the last 2 years or so, they have become more rare, to the point where you'd have a better chance winning the lottery. They are the white rhino baby of VO.

Eh. AFAIK, the main part of their stories they share is "Humanity explored through a wormhole, then the wormhole stopped working and cut us off from Sol System." That isn't actually a very original concept (stories with the premise of being stranded far from home are a dime a dozen). It would not at all surprise me if they both independently decided to use that as the premise of their settings. Note that this is more likely than it might at first seem, since this route gives them a lot more freedom to develop the setting.
As for the similarities in the games themselves, VO and Eve are both extremely obvious game concepts -- and really, what they have in common is only the basic ideas of flying ships in space, using wormholes, and being able to do things you'd naturally expect to be able to do in a decent space game (mining, trading, military, piracy, etc.). And much (most?) of that had already been done by Elite and Wing Commander, just not in the MMO format. The actual gameplay is very different due to Eve's grindy stat-based non-twitch approach and VO's focus on trying to keep things skill-based and twitchy.
