How does Vendetta move ya, baby?
So what kind of soundtrack do you hear when you play?
Flying through these gorgeous new stations with their blinking, neon, holographic advertisements, I keep hearing moody jazz, or some kind of ambient electronica (ala "Blade Runner" or "Cowboy Bepop").
I feel like Vendetta took a bold new turn graphically with the new station art, and the mood of the sectors has definitely changed. I can't wait to see how this motif is further cultivated in the missions and background story of the game. It's so beautiful!.... *sobs against Waylon's shirt*

The Parsec soundtrack. It can be found at www.parsec.org, under the downloads section. Unfortunately I haven't been able to download any of the music for the past two weeks. My download connection keeps timing out. If anyone can get 'em to download, it's definitely worth it.
Oh... and I don't exactly listen to music when I play. I just listen to it when I'm surfing the web or on IRC. I just find music to be distracting during games.

I like to listen to Opeth's mellowish songs(like The Drapery Falls, or Face of Melinda, or etc) while flying around (trading and what not), and stuff like Megadeth when fighting(as well as Opeth - I can listen to that band all day no matter what I'm doing and their music will always be fitting:))
Anywho, I hope to god that the venetta music won't be techno/trance, like what Arolte pointed out:). Unobtrusive instrumental music would be best I think.

"me so horney"
Before the modular stations I felt like I was exploring some backwater of space on the fringes of the galaxy. Now I feel like I am part of a bustling metropolitan area. So definitely some mellow instrumental/jazz music. Please don't go the techno/trance route, it is waay overdone.
Me? I like some good, powerful Classical. Beethoven is preferred, although Mozart's 41st is not bad. Vivaldi is too light (sadly, he's my favourite). Something with a moody feel.
Not all techno/trance is bad. I'm not saying I listen to it everyday or have any CDs of it, but there are some good ones out there that really hit the spot in terms of atmosphere. They're usually the ones that don't sound ridiculously sped up and on crack. Despite its overusage in sci-fi/space themed games, it can still be good if it's done right.
Anyone who has played Parsec or any of the Marathon series knows what I'm talking about. Although Marathon 1 admittedly had cheesy music. I suppose it was "breakthrough" for its time with the advent of QuickTime Musical Instruments and whatnot. But Power of Seven did a great job for the theme songs of Marathon 2 and Marathon Infinity though, especially for the endings.

I forgot to mention, the Byrds are also good playing music. :D
I just listen to a bunch of random techno music freelly and legally downloaded at random websites.
I'm personally not much of one to play music while playing any video game. It tends to cover up the important sounds, such as Arolte hitting his turbo as he swoops in for the kill as I am making a mad dash for the station loaded with widgets for a needy station.
(Well, okay. Not Arolte specificaly but you get the idea.)

I have a huuuuuge iTunes playlist of every heavy metal song I have (1000+). I put that sucker on random and I'm good to go. Things that come up the most are Slayer, Metallica, Pantera, Shadows Fall, and Children of Bodom. It's really great when an old Metallica song comes on. I pick fights with people.
i agree with paedric. additional sounds just take up too much of my attention (i am not capable of multitasking).
as for the parsec soundtrack, arolte: totally sweet :)

Oh... ctishman, don't take 'em down yet. I still gotta get back from classes to download 'em. Thanks!

"Can't see no lights a flashin'. Can't hear no whistles and bells. Plays by intuition. Plays by sense of smell..."
I'm ATTEMPTING to make a Vendetta-soundtrack, which
will, hopefully, be included in the final version of te game...
It'll take loads of time tho... synths, samplers, the lot.
@rchon.

We're playing a song in Orchestra called "Light Cavalry Overture". For some reason, it agrees well with Vendetta.
I can see pink floyd being good, cause it's usualy ****ed up.
