The hornet is a decent ship, it just doesn't do well in 1v1 PvP.

It doesn't do well with a lot of things. :(

Have you gone bonkers and forgotten that you're talking to a Serco draugath?!? Having the best manoeuvrability doesn't make you the best in combat, but the hornet is still rubbish in most departments.

It seems as though the creator has tried to compensate for the 4 port configuration by nerfing it in every other department, but having four slots is already severely limited by the limited powercell and grid power systems; so it just ends up being underwhelming in every department.

The point is that even though the Hornet is useful in some situations, those situations are not of the variety that are extremely sensitive to minor details of mass distribution and collision hull shape. If the new Hornet model ends up being slightly more or less maneuverable than the old, or slightly better at dodging, nobody is going to throw a fit, because nobody is using it in a context where those factors really matter.

While that's true Pizza, and that was kind of my point, I was going one further and saying the Hornet should be reworked stat-wise to accompany the new model.

Having more top tier ships to give more variety would make VO a lot more fun. As it stands, no Hornets are really top tier combat ships, even the Orion Convoy Guardian can't be considered in the top tier of combat ships.

For what it's worth, I think the Hornet variants were balanced before the power grid requirements came into play.

Let's not get too far off topic from the newsletter.

I think lots of the ships stats were balanced before new mechanics were introduced.

The thrust on ships like the Warthogs and Hornets makes a lot more sense if you ignore weapon mass...

There used to be some pretty deadly quad rail hornet pilots back in the day. One shot boom!
