UIT faction standing
I just found out that a non UIT player can only +600 (respect) faction with UIT. Does this mean an Itani player has no protection at all in UIT space? Would a pirate or other player loose and faction points for killing us in protected UIT space?
If the answer is we get no protection at all then I'll make a post in the suggestion forum that it be raised to +601 (Admire). IMHO the change just seems to make UIT an extension of grey space. With no real consequences for your actions.

That's faction exclusivity in action; Serco players get exactly the same conditions.
You've thrown your lot in with the Itani. Why should the Union give you special accommodations if you aren't willing to side with them?
Yes, if you want protection in UIT space, you'll need to give up some of your Itani standing.

Note that the same thing applies to UIT who are visiting Itani or Serco space -- we cannot achieve Admired with you guys anymore either. Clearly Itani space is just an extension of grey space!
As for penalties, at a bare minimum the 24-hour TempKOS for killing three+ people per week should still apply, since that only requires that the victim has Disliked or better standing.

Plus, quite a lot of 'UIT space' is actually monitored by one of the corporations, and you can still get admired standing with them
And who needs protection when you have a valk? ;-)

TerranAmbassador: If i could give a little of my Itani standing to get +601 UIT i would. does seem like that is possible though.
Pizzasgood: Sorry i didn't know that.
vanatteveldt: I was talking about traders or cargo runners like me :)
I know Itani and serco had a choice. We can have high standing with either of those nations. Just not both anymore. I begrudgingly accepted that. We are at war after all. But UIT is supposed to be neutral. Shouldn't the Itani and Serco be able to have Admire faction with them.
So UIT can't get higher faction than +600 with Itani or serco?
I'm just trying to understand what the new faction changes mean. Anyone have specific information on what each faction can and can't do with the other major factions? IF so please share.

There are patch notes. Read them.
From an RP perspective, I think it makes sense that UIT would only commit their resources to protecting UIT traders. Why would they protect foreign nationals, especially since they are probably stealing trade from UIT?
From a balance perspective, UIT doesn't have the top-tier ships, so this at least gives them some advantage. It would actually make sense if the rule is weakened for UIT nationals, ie make them able to get 650 standing or so. Not enough for getting the nation-specific ships, but enough to get protection from the side they choose to invest in. After all, why would Serco/Itan not protect neutral traders who can help them win the war? http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/28601#345739
