You only can have 1 friend key applied to your account; if you've already used one, you'd have to apply it toward a new account.

I played my 8hr trial then immediately subscribed for 6mo... i've never used a friend key. It's been about two years since I played vo, but i've been keeping up with what's been going on and spreading the word to everyone I know that's into gaming, especially android users. Works on iPad now, right?
Anyway, I can't afford to subscribe again until the beginning of next year, and I thought that now might be a good time to see if there's someone out there willing to send me a friend key for the time being... The offline free-flight is a little boring, but at least I got my wings back under me! I mean I could just start a new account and use an 8hr trial again, but i'd rather not add to the list of non-subscribed accounts.
I can still use a friend key (once) even if i'm a previous subscriber, right? Anyhow, i'll be on eventually, just looking for a little fix to get me through to the end of the year.

You could just wait a bit. The devs will be having the free play deal for vets coming up for the holidays. You can't use a friend key after you subscribe if I remember correctly.

oh, that's a bummer. I assumed the holiday tradition would continue, and have been looking forward to it... since the year before last. Didn't get a chance to play last year... too busy during the holidays. Was hoping to play for a little bit before then, get used to my joystick controls again before the universe got real busy. Guess i'll have to wait a month. I really can't afford to subscribe very often, even though I love vo (despite it's minor shortcomings) But after playing for a week around new years, i'm sure i won't be able to resist buying another subscription.

vskye is correct, accounts that have ever subscribed cannot utilize a friend key.

Are you aware of the lite-sub? It's only $1/month. It caps you at level 3 or so, but you can still go everywhere and use the basic gear. If you have characters on your account that are above the level cap, they'll be temporarily dropped to level 3, but they'll be reset to their original high levels once you upgrade to a full subscription.

yea, i can't even do that since i need to log in to link my user to the irc bot... and it's ok, because roids are WAY bigger than barns... and i ususally get pretty close. Actually, i've only had the 8hr trial and 1 6mo sub and my pilot is 8/9/8/11/9, missions 230/0, but i did do 13 days, 10:53:12.

Actually tinbot, the IRC bot is set up nowadays so that you have to actually log into the game once every 30 days or so, otherwise it stops letting you relay in from IRC. So people who don't play at all anymore are mute.
