Serco Statistics for February 2013
The Project
A number of guilds in the VO universe keep aggregated statistical data over prolonged periods of time. We have always had the capability but we wanted to determine if it was actually a useful thing to do in the first place. So we undertook a sample study to see what data we could collect and we've now started analyzing for trends. I'm posting to share some of the insights.
The Data
The skew is obviously Serco Nationalists, all serco with the exception of mr_spuck. The sample period is over February of 2013 and slightly into March where participants got roughly 1,034 kills in total. There were roughly 35 participants over the period.
The Results
This metric is number of kills by sector. According to this chart, duel culture was well and truly alive in Feb.
Not surprisingly, Itan is the most killed. Perhaps a surprise to some is that although the period in question was one of conflict with TGFT, they are only 5% of kills reinforcing that they had a fairly small presence in greyspace. The high percentage of [RED] kills comes down to training moreso than friendly fire. These training activities are probably responsible for the prevalence of Ukari A-10 in the above chart, so both results can probably be ignored.
This one is particularly affected by the skew towards Serco Nationalists, it probably raises more questions than answers about what other group's most used weapons are. I was personally surprised that Gauss Cannon Mk III achieved such a high representation even above the AAP.
The Conclusion
It would be an interesting project for the game to compare key metrics population wide, for us though there were few surprises. We have more data to analyse but i'm more interested in seeing the difference after a few game-play changes most notably a fixed faction system which will hopefully result in more conflict around borders rather than just centered in Sedina and Latos.

Pretty cool. I like it.
But I find it surprising that "other" sectors are more frequently battled in than in Sedina B8. What other sectors did you fight in?

'Other' is the sum of all kills in sectors not represented on the graph. Anything from station sectors like sedina d-14 to some random kill someone got in dau. So it's not really surprising since we tried our best not to just camp in B8 the whole month.
Interestingly, you are not represented very highly in this data, you were only killed 28 times in feburary but since then on current figures you have become the most killed with 425 kills. The next most killed is Westacular with 293 kills followed by kbireta with 274.

That's why I lol'd when Inc mentioned people going "gatling crazy" regarding the Gat HV. :)
Yeah, I fight you guys more often than anybody else. February was 1 months after I joined, was still new. I'm sure I did better later on
The problem with Itan's data is that if we represented it like this, there'd be no [RED] kills because no [RED] have logged on in many many months.
Yeah yeah keep kicking the dead horse kierky. RED was the most active organised combat force in the galaxy for a time. Like FAMY, CHRN and SKV before it we sustained our player numbers with controversy and a fresh take on our roles.
A small group of us dedicated much of our time to making things interesting, but there is only so many times you can conquer a station, so many times you can build a trident, so many times you can have a furball before you're kicking the same can down the same street.
I'm not done with VO, i'm not sure about the others but none of us are going to come back for your sake that's for sure. In fact you could say that one of the main reasons we became serco nationalists in the first place is because we could never stomach being allied with whiney uninspired babies like you or ARF. Sure Snk is kinda funny and crazyspence is amusing and spidey is hilarious but the rest of you are so firmly in the carebear "lets do everything we can to stifle conflict" camp that many of us came to the conclusion it would be more entertaining to let you get what you want than continue playing.
So maybe I don't want to be a serco nationalist anymore, maybe I am enjoying the whole "der you never play anymore" rubbish because of the high level of irony inherent in years of being a carebear and then bitching when you get what you want. Time will tell.

You record kills for enemy players and where those kills were, but do you also record deaths by enemy players? It would be interesting to see the graphs for each overlaid.
RED was the most active organised combat force in the galaxy for a time.
As were dozens of other guilds. Itan has been that several times, and has seen many others come and go. :)

That is some god awful wording right there. I assume you're asking if we record pilots deaths as well as pilot kills and then correlate with sector and time so you could basically see a kdr by location. The plan is to eventually support that in addition to having enemy seen records, but the initial program was only meant to be a scoreboard so it only supports kills. It wasnt till i started playing with it that I realized we had enough information to do some interesting graphs.

I (xihu) would love to claim responsibility for the gat and gauss 3 kills... but I dont know if I am the major reason.. can ye shed some light on the subject? I forgot the stats page info, can ye hook me up form IRC when ye see me in game?
Haha.. yeah.. you could say that <.<
:) now to make up for lost months....
Oh actually you were wrong it seems about the weapon types, see below:
You are second each time, but I have more kills with gauss and Sanan has more with gats.

dang.. 2nd place is the first loser :(

bitch im hilarious
Anyways, it's not our fault you guys are to lazy to log on. I, for one, am enjoying Itan's dominance.
