Question about old accounts ?
What is the official policy about old accounts. I don't play regularly but will probably check in from time to time to check the activity, progress and changes.
How long will your account be saved before deletion ?

Your account will be deleted Soon(tm).

The official policy is in the FAQ, I think. I believe we say we'll guarantee to keep it for 3 months (un-subscribed), but in practice it has been very.. very long.
Contrary to popular belief, we did do an account purge, maybe 30k accounts, but it was a long time ago.
We may have to step that up, or change how it works, because I don't like having so many character names sitting "unavailable" assigned to people who don't ever play. But we'll target trials first, people who have (ever) subscribed will still be the most protected for the longest. We may eventually get to a point where old unused accounts may suddenly have their characters randomly re-named to free up requested names, or their characters "suspended" but revive-able in some way.
Active subscriber data is of course un-touchable (barring policy violations or the like).
It is notable that there may be some content-related changes that are impacted by how active a given subscription has been. I've long promised benefits to more supportive players (people who maintain consistent/longer subs), and we'll probably start to see some of that happening before long.
