Mentor System lacks info...

Oct 17, 2013 Faille Corvelle link
I've been grinding up my Trident pilot alt with the intent of giving Weasy a mentor point. However, there seems to be no info on what license levels can/can't invite a mentor. I was careful not to let any licenses go above 3, but apparently, this is too high to invite a mentor.

How are people supposed to get mentor points when even is vets can't find any info beyond the /mentor commands list?

Weasy deserves "The Artful Dodger"'s mentor point. He helps newbs all the time, but we can't help him. Basically, as I've said before, the current system sucks. Can we at least get some info somewhere on what the min/max licenses caps are?

Faille.

I am in agreement that there isn't good documentation on this.
But What I would like to see is the limit rised slightly.
I would like to see it go to 3, then be evaluated at 4.
This would allow users to help more as people are still new and fresh at rank 3. And have lots of questions still.

I would like to see it go to 3, then be evaluated at 4.

Especially given how easy it is to go nuts on collectors and hit Light 3 very quickly.
I'd suggest basing it purely on Combat license, up to 3 allowing a mentor invite, and rating said mentor at 4+.

Anyway, this is a whinge thread. Suggestions don't belong here ;)

too bad:

1) +1 to increasing the level cap on inviting a mentor. Personally I would say 4, then rate them after any 3 licenses increases, or some such. [edit: see #6 below]

2) add a Mentor "Info Only" mission to the training sector, along the lines of the combat 3 "Where do I go from here?" mission you see when you hit level 3, so new players are sure to see it before their mission board gets crowded. Get it voiced over for the ADD set. Sure, it could also be one of the tutorial missions at all stations, too

3) add a command to the /mentor syntax to register and unregister yourself as a willing and available mentor, so the mission mentioned above can list the current active mentors available. Perhaps auto-drop mentors each month so only active players are listed.

4) add a command to the mentor syntax to register as in need of a mentor, automatically unregistering when you have successfully engaged a mentor

5) add a matchmaking mission to group mentors with students, available everywhere. Think of it as speed dating for mentors.

6) allow all three mentor points of the account to be used by the same character. I just thought of this but: duh! for the real padawan/master experience, or to train with 3 different players, allow mentoring much further along the license progression, and let our newbs seek "higher education"

7) give me another pony, because a rattle snake that thought it was a constrictor killed my last one.

re: /mentor commands

/mentor needed = registers you as currently seeking a mentor, lists all characters online who have registered as available. notifies you when mentors register or log out.

/mentor available = registers you as available and ready to mentor. lists all characters online who have /mentor needed and notifies you when students register or log out.

All registrations would be cleared when the character logs out, so all this is only for ready and willing students and mentors.

If your alt is on the same account than your main, you cannot be mentored anymore because you are no longer a newb. This prevent abusing the mentoring system.

dual-client or multi-box (or just to give points to your favorite person): make a trial account, make disposable alts, /mentor invite and grind up to level 3. 3 times per trial account.

No, if UC acquisition were to be changed, they should be changed to be crafted instead.

Screw crafting, crafting anything is terrible. Everybody knows that battery types need a huge mix up.
