"No.. that's what you're complaining about."
Exactly. Lecter does not represent the majority here. I'd rather you spent more time on other threads.
/edit for Lecterine: Exactly. Lecter does not represent the majority here, so please stop wasting your time responding to his pedantic BS and direct your attention elsewhere.

Way to miss the point of the quote, Harbie.
Honestly I dont know what the phaserlight you're on about lecter.
You quote inc as saying the annivults are "clones of the base Mk I" and the "base vulturius". If the base mk1/vulturius changes any reasonable person would expect the anniversary vult to change with it in order to remain consistently a clone of the base vultures.
It's your interpretation that it shouldn't, and it's quite obviously because you don't like the new vulture.
If people aren't, to put it bluntly, too retarded to know what a skin is; why are you too retarded to identify an in principle description of a skin.

Clones as they existed then, TRS. Absent a specification they'd adapt to model changes, the Annies are fixed.
Which is so blatantly your interpretation.
In order for them to consistently remain clones of the base vultures as described they would need to change with the models which is perfectly consistent with the text you quoted and highlighted.
The counterfactual of course being if you really liked the new vultures you'd be all for the new annivult being a derivative of it.
So again, what the phaserlight are you smoking. Let us all bow down to the great judgment of Dr. Lecter, the arbiter of all good taste in Serco terrestrial ship derivative designs!

Whatever, can't be more shitty than the hound.

Nope, nice try. I like the idea of the Anni as a ship that will always be around in the form in which it was introduced, thereby becoming (as the game evolves) a badge for those who were there when that's what VO ships looked like.
It is my interpretation, but it's also the most reasonable reading of what Inc. said. You and he can torture the language to justify what he wants to do all you want, but that won't make the reading any more reasonable. If you're going to do something regardless of what you've said in the past, you may as well man up and admit you don't give a fuck about what you promised before -- the decison is made and that's that.
Which seems to be what Inc. has said, so I'm not sure why you're trying to whitewash things for him, TRS.

"In order for them to consistently remain clones"
"Clone" is not the correct word. If I clone a sheep and then turn the original into dinner, that has no impact on the clone. If I clone a harddrive and then take a hammer to the original, that has no impact on the clone. If I use the cloning tool in Gimp and then later paint over the original area, it has no impact on the clone.
The word you're looking for, at least in this context, is "re-skin". I'm not sure what the generic term would be. "Mirror image" could also be serviceable, but that's non-ideal because it can also imply a reversal of any asymmetries. But for the word "clone", Dr. Lecter does have the correct interpretation.
So, Inc misspoke. Waving your arms around doesn't change the fact that he made a mistake. Mistakes happen, oh well.

Oh bugger off Rin, it was a perfectly adequate in-principle description of a re-skin. Lecter wants to drive down the street with a blindfold on and blame the driver of the other car for colliding with him.
You and I both know the Anni-vult can't always be around in the form it was when it was released and it's unreasonable to expect it would be. The only torturing of language going on here is lecter's what you in America might call 'strict constructionism' where you just attach no context to the word and walk around with your underpants on your head pretending you have a legitimate point. We have a different colloquial name for it in Australia (starts with a b, ends with a t) but I'm trying to be culturally sensitive
:)

Oh, now I understand. TRS, I think there's probably a support group somewhere for butt-hurt Aussies who get upset whenever they're forced to argue with Americans (a.k.a., people who can still buy actual firearms).
Oh yeah you got me! I'm all bummed about the fact that I don't have constitutional rights so i'm taking it out on you!
Dear lord.
Dear lord.
I wear my underpants on my head to hide my legitimate point.
I live in one of the most crime-ridden cities in the USA, and I don't feel I need a gun.

Is it really worth this much argument? The AnnyVult is still going to be a badge, regardless of how it looks. Lecter, have you never said "always" and later realized that wasn't the case? TRS, does the strict interpretation really matter that much?
FFS guys, let it go. If I were Inc, I'd be looking at this thread and wondering if upgrading VO was worth it...
Faille.

I agree with Faille. The good news is that new ships are on the way. I'd be surprised if anyone really missed the Anniversary Vult as it stands now. That's not to say it wouldn't be nice to have it remain as a legacy ship, but from what I understand Incarnate didn't explicitly say this wouldn't happen; just that he wouldn't hold up the game for the sake of one ship design of the "older" variety.
edit - I didn't see this before: Now we're updating all the vultures, including it, and the skin.
Life goes on...

Are you kidding. VO forums are a whole game in themselves. So yes, It is worth the argument since that's the game of VO forums where there is at least new content every day :P
I honest to god thought all the ships looked like rubbish when I first started playing, including the vulture and especially the atlas. The emphasis should be on upgraded versions of the ship. I'm not a huge fan of this new vulture design, but I'm a huge fan of stuff happening so ya know, torn and stuff.
And damn it Faille, I don't want to let it go! I want my bill of rights!!!

You have the right to remain silent.
If you give up the right to remain silent anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law... etc.

Oh we have those rights, but we dont get to excercise them until we committ a crime so yeah, pass
i agree with Lecter, I want a classic style annie vult for those present at the 5 year annie.
Everyone else who disagrees is nuts! Not going to present FACTS or POINTS, it's just what I want and after 9 years of investment 10 years of playing I expect what I want.

I won't miss the Anni Vult specifically, but I will miss the original. It has a character which is different from that conveyed by the new one. And clearly Dr. Lecter is going to miss the Anni version. So I have no idea what the heck you're talking about. Oh wait, I know. You're trying to work your arcane spin-majicks to make it seem like valid complaints don't exist, as usual.
TRS: All I'm saying is that the usage of the term "clone" was incorrect, and that continuing to use it incorrectly annoys me. At no point did I say anything about whether I thought Inc was violating the spirit of an agreement or whether it would be feasible to keep the old model. Actually, I think Inc's stance is pretty reasonable. I just want people to stop using the word "clone" as though it implies continuing changes to maintain consistency.
Dr. Lecter: From what I understand, most Aussies aren't even allowed to have armor.

We're not. But we are allowed armour :P
