X-box joystic trigger binding

Jul 28, 2013 neon black link
Greetings VO community!

Neon Black here. I'm getting back in the swing of things in the verse and, for the time being, I'm using an xbox controller to play. It is actually quite fun and if I can set it up like I'd like to, there might be no need to go back to my Logitech js. So here's what I need some help with:

It seems that the triggers on the controller register as the "Z Axis", and therefore are unable to be bound to buttons from the main settings interface. The right trigger adds to the z axis, and the left trigger subtracts from it. I want to know if it is at all possible to somehow set up these triggers to perform actions (like primary and secondary firing). I'm sure there is some way to set this up but I am still a complete newb when it comes to this kind of code stuff.

If anybody could help me out with this I would be very much appreciative. If it's any incentive, I'd like to offer a reward to whomever helps me accomplish this feat! Say... 50mil credits? Thanks in advance for any helpful advise! I look forward to seeing you all again out in the verse!

Analog axes can't currently be bound to button commands. Someone may have a plugin that could do it though.

Yeah I figured it would require some sort of plugin sorcery. Well, anyone know of something like that? Or any advise on how to make it myself? It doesn't seem like it would be TOO difficult...

I've only been able to find a 3rd-party program that intercepts joystick actions and remaps them to keyboard keys. It might be possible to also do it with a plugin, but I think the cycle cost would be too high if it were possible. This program is of course a Linux program.

EDIT:

Here is my original post about the program.

This should do it:

AnalogToDigital

I'm kind of fried right now, so do let me know if you find any bugs.

Awesome thank you guys! I'm using another 3rd party application (JoyToKey), does the same thing and works just fine. Really appreciate all the advise guys! Now to learn how to ride a bike all over again!

See you in the verse!
