I would like to ask what is the purpose of the reset? If its to try and make money rare again, then surely someone (FiReMaGe, Boing!) can just solo cap a few times and everyone is gonna get a million credits, and we are well on the way back to where we started! I'm not saying its easy to cap, in fact i find it insanely difficult, but a few people have the technique to pull it off. I don't think its a particularly great idea that everyone will get a million, when it was the hard work of one individual...

"We currently anticipate the next significant release will be in the week of the 13th (somewhere, 13th through the 17th). This will debut the new core server code, the dynamic economy, feature a monetary reset, and a number of other gameplay changes..."
Yeah, flag captures might become a burden once the reset hits (sometime today, I would imagine). Then again, considering the amount of people that have been jumping online, it wouldn't be too difficult to have a few people guard their home sectors from time to time. Even so, you need money in order to make money. Running into an enemy's home sector w/ only 100k, despite how good you are, is a gamble.
I'm sure there will be quite a team effort forming for the capturing of flags after the reset... Obviously this calls for patroling.

i gotta agree with ziffus, when the reset takes place everyone will make money then go to s18 to trade and buy the elite ships: trade = maud fighting = valk when they have enough to feel comfortable with, prolly a million or so (maybe less depending on who you are), then they might try capping. fm usually bots but he does cap to get the cap race started, and he usually finishes the cap race too. money will be the key though, if you cant trade then you have to bot and botting wont be easy when you are poor and trying to make money fast. just depends on how you want to make money and how fast you can make it to feel insured about dying in a flag cap
thats just my opinion though

Hehe, do you really have to ask why the money has to be reset? Well let's see, there are players who are flying around with over 10,000,000 credits in their pockets... and players who are flying around with barely 5,000 credits. Although I suppose the previous 500,000 reset did do a good job of knocking some of those disproportionate numbers out. But still, the implementation of a dynamic economy is gonna have a huge impact on gameplay.
Have to wait and see...
Will you be joining us Arolte?

Noooo.
shrugs.
shrugs.
Arolte, there are some people flying around with 22,000,000,000 credits. :-D
I think what's Kastin is asking is if someone's going to do a Blaster and repeatedly grab the flag for the other team (to get 5k or whatever) immediately after the reset. They'd each give the guy 1k for his trouble.
And yeah, it's to fix these people (like me :-D) with billions and cut down the wealthy and even out the poor and....

but the most money u can get for this game is 4.2 billion
actually I believe that the reset is to allow the devs to test the dynamic economy.
think about it for a minute. to quote a1k0n, in another thread

it's the "new person here" thread farther down this forum
"""--it's based on the actions of users like romikq says. Stations appear to "consume" widgets at a fixed rate (though they never actually run out of ones that they sell) and are supplied by users (and by convoy bots but not yet). --"""
if they are trying to fine tune the economy, that means that they need traders. if everyone has a zillion billion credits and ships.. no one is going to trade.
If the devs are smart they will also make the base amounts of money you get on a trade run significantly lower to increase the number of trade runs needed to make money. this would give them more data on the test of the economic subroutines.
(IMO the flag caps should also be disabled for the first part of the dynamic economy testing to prevent people from gaining money by flag caps, but thats just my opinion)

Cost of flag: 100000000000 credits
One tachyon cannon: 4800 credits
Blowing yourself up because you're a Serco ******* and fail to get more than 2 meters away when firing? Priceless.
EDIT: clarification

...that makes SO much sense...
I'm a bit confused by your diatribe myself SirCamps. Would you care to elucidate?
I got it, it was a parody of the MasterCard commercial. As for the *****s, please do not elucidate further.
I have reported the solo cap issue as I said I would Kastin. I will report back when I hear something.

I like solo capping!
I got the reference Mr. Moderator, and I can figure out the *******s, I just don't understand SirCamp's thinking behind this particular diatribe is all. Elucidate away.
Well I've got to say it.
Bring old capping back!
-Get rid of the def bots or make them have the same set ups as humans.
-Drop the reward back down to what it used to be, 20/40k I think.

Maybe bump down the price, maybe to half million. But i think that the reward should still be VERY high, as capping is insanely hard now with those def bots.
I like Eldrad's idea. Ever since the bots were introduced I haven't had fun capping. Before, capping was awsome even when it failed. It just feels... empty now.
I agree with Eldrad, make the defbots normal level, and reduce the value of the cap to the old amounts.
