Long-time and long-gone player praise
Heya, space buccaneers. Long time no see, hope you've been good, don't press the eject button while yer still in the cargo hold, and so on, etc etc blah blah.
Now (to smoothly ignore 4 years of silence and absence), for the iPad release of VO, I typed up a forum post for the TouchArcade forums, offering up whatever significant VO features I could dredge up from the depths of my shattered cognition in an attempt to generate interest for the game. It pretty accurately presents all the reasons I ventured out among these stars in the first place, and why I still refer to VO as my favourite MMO, long after I've forgotten why I left. (Though should that mythical iPhone port start to make TPG Raptor-style prototype appearances in my part of the galaxy, I will not stay gone for long...)
I figured it might be an interesting read for some of you devs and long-time players, for reasons of self-admiration, elitism, nostalgia and backpatting: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2784558&postcount=12
(In all honesty, since it has been so very long since last I was here, I am not fully sure that all my info is accurate. But it was always like that with VO: my vision of what I wanted the game to be and what it actually was often blended and meshed together. That's not a bad sign ;-) )
(Also, on a side-note: devs, should you have the time for some customer backscratching and fawning, I suggest you get your behinds over to the VO thread in the TouchArcade forums. TA is apparently the largest iOS gaming community in the world, and developer participation in the forums has become a tradition and ritual for a surprising large section of the iOS developer community. These days, even EA and Ubisoft reps show up occasionally.
Forum participation at TouchArcade generates lots of goodwill with the community, and while the TA guys only represents a small portion of your target audience, of course, this favourable impression has often been reported by devs as a gateway to grassroot and mouthwordy marketing, and seems to influence what other iOS gaming sites and communities shine their light upon.)

Definitely a good post, nothing majorly problematic in there.
Except the cargo being lost part. Cargo always drops. It's weapons and other addons that aren't necessarily recoverable.
Hey Ion/Ayjona, I remember you. It's good to have another VO evangelist on the front. Welcome back.
Thanks for the help on Touch Arcade. I've just posted over there myself.
