Where have you been all my life?

Mar 15, 2013 JohnnyOmaha link
Was attempting to find a new game to sink my teeth into. Have always been a wing commander fan and was JUICED to find out about Star Citizen...

... when, low and behold - IT ALREADY EXISTS.

How have I not heard of this game until now? I only found it because of mmorpg.com doing a search for Sci-Fi games.

Anyway, the cosmos aligned, DEVELOPED IN MY HOME STATE. Oconomowoc represnt, ya'all (I mean, "you guys")

Anyway, really excited about the demo and if all goes well, should be bringing my other friends over shortly.

While I'm sad to find out about the game only now - it probably worked out for the best, as I would have not gotten ANYTHING done over the last 10 years.

Welcome, JO - don't worry about losing your ship; it happens a lot. Take your time getting to know the layout of the universe, finding out where you fit in and what your playstyle(s) is (are).

Help us to get the word out; if you bring friends over, great! I've felt that VO has been greatly under-dogged at times, less so today than before; nonetheless, it is an unforgettable experience. Word of mouth is important to create buzz/hype, which in turn generates more subscriptions, which becomes a better experience. It also feels good to be supporting an American company (Florida resident here), although we have a fair amount of international players also. I write that having grown up in Tokyo, and having lived a good number of years as a "Third Culture Kid".

I'd estimate it takes about a month to become proficient in combat (especially PvP), and four to six years at least to become an expert (if not to attain mastery), so keep at it! If you can make it to a planned event or find a sensei to come down to your level to duel you using your own equipment, you may see the possibilities a Newtonian environment generates (talking force, mass, acceleration, etc.)

I'm one of the guys Johnny brought over here, we were searching for a new game as our current one is, well crapping the bed (Sony) so that should be enough said.

I too have wanted a privateer like MMO since privateer was still a name in gaming, and HOW IN THE HOLY HELLS DID I NEVER HEAR ONE WORD ABOUT THIS GAME?

I even played (and paid) for a few over the last decade but this one never even got a mention anywhere.

I told a friend of mine yesterday, gave him the link, his first response was, "Its been around for 10 years and I never heard of it".

I've played EvE, I played Jumpgate, I mean come on, is there a stealth shield on this game?

Welcome to Vendetta Online! Glad you guys are enjoying the game :).

We're a tiny company with no marketing budget, which has always made outreach tough. Massively/Joystiq, IMG and a few other outlets have consistently covered us, and we appear in the occasional partner's marketing, like Verizon's TV commercials. But we just can't afford big banner ads and things like CCP.

You should be seeing a bit more news about us in the near future, as we gear up for the iPad launch.

In the meantime, glad you found us! We have a bunch of changes coming in the next few weeks, and bigger stuff over the year, it should be a great time to join the game.

Will do marketing for game time - 10 years experience that probably wouldn't have happened if I found out about your game 10 years ago ;)

Won some awards for machinima back when it was all new and different with World of Warcraft. I see crazy potential for this game, especially with your future forward thinking of the tablet market - genius.

You should have my contact info in my account page, gimmie a hollar here or via e-mail and we can do some awesomesauce.

Whatever you do, remember the golden rule:
Treat others like you'd like to be treated, unless they're Serco or pirates. Then feel free to do whatever you'd like.
Especially if they're RED(Serco) or FAMY(Pirates).
Oh oh oh and, out of curiosity, which faction did you join?
Mar 22, 2013 TerranAmbassador link
Snake's also feeding you propaganda (if not as elegantly as TRS).

FAMY aren't pirates, they sell a valuable product.

Me and johnny had a chat last time he was online, he loves my propoganda, great guy, hope he sticks with the game.

Don't listen to them Johnny!
Even he admits it's propaganda!

Welcome Johnny and friend. Just find your groove in here and stick with it.

Itani, Serco, don't matter. It's all propaganda and he shouldn't listen to a word.

I just found this game through my tablet a few days ago, started off mining and trading a bit to get the hang of the game. Then I installed it on my comp, hooked up my ps3 controller cause combat on the tablet sucks and havent been able to stop! Ive since upgraded to full sub to get better licenses, love this game!
The only thing that I think is very offputting is not being able to do more than one mission at a time, I mean if im flying though an asteroid field charting and take out a few collectors shouldnt that count twards the repeatable mission that I keep going back to anyways? I just think it would make lvling a lil easier, rather than just grinding away at collectors hoping I dont get popped and have my bonus reset, also the reset on log is kinda stupid, I have to stay logged in the station if i wanna go eat or run to the store, just food for thought.
Another thing is the mentor program is a good idea but I dont really see any advertizing ingame

EDIT: also, the tablet version should let you choose your account name XD

Yeah the one mission at a time thing has been mentioned before, and it's true that you should be able to take more than one mission, but it would break a number of the story driven missions to be able to do that because they would interact badly.

In terms of the other missions though totally needs to happen, the devs will get there.
