Is this game now free?
Hey, I'm an old player who hasn't played in several years. I decided to come check on the site for and was checking through recent update logs. Is it true we can now play on our old accounts for free?
That is a promotion they run every year for Christmas.
From December 24th to January 1st, accounts that were subscribed before the October of that year and are no longer subscribed may play for free.
Next best thing: If you pledge on the Kickstarter for $50, you can get 20 months at a rate of $2.50 per month, plus a half dozen assorted other goodies, when/if the Kickstarter is completed.

So this expired on new year?
kk, thanks. Was perhaps getting a little ahead of myself XD
When I get some money to spare I'm gonna pick this game up again, I really enjoyed it :)

If you pledge to the kickstarter, you aren't out the money until the time elapses, and then only if they make their goal. If you enjoy the game, the best thing you can do is pledge.
Never pledge your chickens before they hatch.
The financial uncertainty of the individual is secondary to the success of the whole.
That actually presents an interesting question: what happens if a Kickstarter project hits its funding target but one of the backers turns out to be insolvent?
Now you can play for as low as US$0.99/month, with a severily capped account... LITE mode implemented.
Would make more sense for me to be $1/week with higher levels, but that's Incarnate's choice.

I'm not sure that I would call 3/3/3/3/3 severe; it is only 0.99 USD a month, after all. It's actually more lenient than I expected as it sounds as though players will be able to buy advanced equipment through Corvus, and will be able to join guilds. I think it's a pretty good deal for any who are looking for a more casual experience.
Also keep in mind this is only a first-round implementation without balance tweaks. There has not even been an official announcement yet, as far as I know.
