Searching for the "fun" part within the "not-fun" background is (to me) a large part of the "fun". (Those who have played the Wing Commander/Privateer series back in the '90s see what i mean ;) ). In a game, knowing there's something to find may be the best reason for searching. Must not be too hard anyway, but AFAIK VO is ok on that and provides with a lot of starters therefore, up to the player to use his/her brains to follow.
Just to compare, no offense, WoW has gone within years from "sometimes really hard to find" to "just click'n'go", now at first sight VO seems just right in the middle :)

It might be nice for the Bar and conference rooms for the people who like to sit in stations and socialize. I can imagine guild meetings in a station's private conference room with audio.

I also agree that buying/selling ships and stuff can be done electronically from the cockpit and loaded by the station robots like happens now, but we just can't see it because we have no windows :)

I'm pretty sure VO runs on Windows, right up-to the store version ;-)

If they make a bar that we interact in, I call dibs on Makchuga in Odia M-14, which I will purchase, rename and remodel into a fine dining establishment with top-notch service and valet parking.

Oh who am I kidding it'll be a dive bar and I'll never be able to afford a new sign so the name will probably have to stay the same.
