me thinks Guild software should just go hard out working for a few months and release something new and amazingly awesome to call VO 1.9.0 :)

We've really accomplished a big chunk of what I had slated for 1.9, but I'd still like to get the universe redux and some improved factional bits and other things straightened out. But yes, there is a plan for that, which should be announced shortly.

Seriously, though, we're still in 1.8 because 1.9 was supposed to represent "we fixed most of the broken! and now we can focus on new stuff!" and I've been too stubbornly annoyed that some of the "old-broken" hasn't been addressed yet (mostly from time spent on mobile), so I've refused to roll it over. Heh.

Anyway, there will be a related announcement in the near future.
