Single Player Mission Difficulty

Nov 20, 2012 Samwise9 link
Is it just me, or are a lot of the single player missions a lot frickin' harder than they need to be?

Such as Corvus Hive Samples, Rogue Drones - Vessel Defense, A Looming Threat - Hiding Out, The Visitor, and probably a few others.

I don't know if it's just my ability or if they really are overly difficult...I've amassed a number of PVP kills and achieved license 10/8/7, but...yeah. In my defense I've beaten most of those but not after lots of time and tears put into it.

Hard is good. If you win it the first time every time, where's the challenge?

All the missions i've been designing in PCC are on the basis that they should be impossible to complete with a single person, where is the fun in single player missions? You should need a team to do them. Sadly we don't have group missions yet which is where VO really pops, should be no.1 on incarnate's PCC bucket list if you ask me.

Just take a friend along if you can't beat em, more fun that way anyway.

So, how do I know if a mission is designed to be done by more than 1 experienced player?

There should be easy, hard and impossible missions, to keep challenge to all levels of players. Different missions, not levels for same mission. Just like it is now.

But TRS has a point: Vendetta Online is a multiplayer game that avoids multiplayer activities...

I have been begging to add EVENT or multiplayer support to PCC for a very long time. We're almost there, but Devs seems to dislike it...

And you can ask help for a friend, or even HIRE someone to help you on missions, as TRS said. Just make sure to NOT make a group, or PCC missions will fail/hide.

Yeah, the half the PCC would kill to be able to make group missions like the Hive/Border Skirmishes.

tarenty has a point, but you can also get creative with it. Just because it's a single player mission doesn't mean you can't have another player come with you with a repair gun or ride as a turret gunner.

Kab: If a mission is designed for more than one player, it will probably warn you that you will need help to finish it or something like that.

Sam: So what? Look at all the braindead-easy missions we also have. Like Alloh said, it is important to have a range of difficulties so that all players can have some missions they enjoy.

Been there, done that. I prefer my trick of flying two moths with a single joystick. I can move twice as much booty that way.

+1 rin/Pizza
-1 BT :P

That's a lot of booty for one joystick.

How difficult, from a dev perspective, would it be to implement multiplayer mission support in the PCC? Has it just been ignored, or is it a complicated prospect? Could you not just add a true/false option for showing the mission while the player is in a group, allowing the group to take it?

VO was never meant to be SINGLE player... or else why be online, and call itself a MMORPG?

Two changes that could change PCC into real *multiplayer* tool:

* Multiplayer support
-new- Missions only available if grouped
-fix- A working way to make missions happen on specific sector (system,row,column)

* Event support
-fix- Mission availavility Show/start/end
-fix- A working way to make missions happen on specific sector (system,row,column)

from my discussions with incarnate it is not that technically complicated to achieve, however it's quite far down on their list of priorities.
