Dear bunghole, ALL I SEEN WAS PENIS ;D
In the immortal words of Mies van der Rohe: "LESS IS MORE!"
This quote has been perceived as the first and most important rule of modern architecture as well as modern graphic design. Simplicity IS the way to success.
It is not without reason that the German Third Reich "hackenkreutz" symbol is still the best logo design in entire human history.
From an old school, experienced graphic & logo designer point of view - all 3 nation symbols have a long way to go before they can even be called logos/emblems.

Wow... hitler boy over here thinks your designs are shit. Not sure people are going to take that advice to heart. I think they look great and are a vast improvement to the feel of the game.
o.0
All of these logos look like they were made by a nauseated chimp with a yeast infection. They're crap.
All these logos are crap. It's like, "Oh hey guys! I just discovered the bevel/emboss filter in photoshop 3! Isn't that SO COOL!?"

'Hitler boy' made the same point I did earlier in the thread. Apparently there are more simplistic versions available which I intend to get my hands on and adapt for the RED logo and the header on sercodominion.org. But yes I agree with his point that they still need to be refined more.
Not sure what to make of tumbles post... I guess that's just tumble.
Oh and I'm sorry bunghole, there aren't enough sexual references in that post, please add more.

@Waffles
Quite a few members of Hitler boy's family were imprisoned in Dachau concentration camp during WW2, some of them survived, some were not so lucky so I don't share any love for the nazi movement.
My statement about 'hackenkreutz' being the best logo is founded on graphic design principles every designer has to learn during his academic education. Because of it's negative connotations it's rarely mentioned but the facts stand. It was the most impressive brand in the human history.
Now to get back on track and offer some more arguments about why I think this logos/emblems are not working, I will post a short excerpt from an article I wrote a long time ago:
"It is likely that no other piece of graphic design has the unobtainable expectations placed upon it that most clients have for a logo. It is widely thought by clients that a logo should represent every aspect of their positioning—something just not possible. When attempted, the logo is a tangled mess of ideas without focus, failing to please anyone. Instead, a logo should be designed to provide a glimpse into the brand, a visual cue as to why the audience should care about you. It is a symbol that often avoids depicting what the company does in favor of reflecting a company’s qualities.
More logos would be successful if the expectations put on them were realistic.
A good logo usually works through a simple solution without being cliché or trendy. It provides clarity of focus, becoming shorthand for the values of the organization, and the anchor of the visual brand."

Even as someone new to the game I have to say that after reading the backstory, the logos presented don't seem to match what I would have imagined they would look like. Of course though opinions are like backsides, everybody has one and this is especially true when it comes to art.
Just some observations on the current logo designs:
The Serco logo just seems like it needs some sort of bird of prey symbology to it with the Serco Dominion being controlled by a triumvirate and the Nighthawk being significant in their past. Also the current logo reminds me of the Progen one from Above & Beyond.
The Itani logo lacks any sort of religious symbology which seems such a cornerstone of who they are and the current logo just seems too busy where colours blend into each other to much.
The UIT logo just doesn't seem to capture the essense of a large group of space faring entities working together for a common goal.
When designing logos the first thought should be about it's most basic form, using just black shapes on a white background with no shading and then add further detail to it later on. Think of some of the most iconic logos which most people would instantly recognise today like Apple, McDonalds, Windows, Adidas as just some examples of this.

Aww, isn't that cute, bojansplash trying to look smarter than he is by claiming to have an objective reason for liking Hitler. (Not to mention a great example of the "why, some of my friends happen to be..." argument)
I'm sorry to tell you this, but this is not your "Introduction to Computer Graphics for the 21st Century" class. Maybe in that setting your "enlightened objectivity" would be tolerated. I doubt it.
Even if it was, I seriously doubt even your community college professor would have let that sort of remark slide without asking you to support it.
So, please sir, tell us, what are these grand fundamental principles of graphic design that rule the world? In what ways did Hitler do such a good job applying them to his flag that you consider it to be "the best logo ever"?
Better yet, why don't you explain how it is the application of these principles that made the swastika an ever-lasting symbol of bigotry and oppression. After all, if it's the application of these mysterious fundamental design principles that made the flag of Nazi Germany a success, then it would have been a world-renowned symbol even if the national socialist party spent all their time handing out fliers at PTA meetings, right?
It's not like something such as, oh I don't know, years of oppression and bigotry could have made a symbol cement itself in the world's consciousness. After all, a good logo isn't defined by the fame or infamy of the people using it. It's all thanks to these magical fundamental design principles!
Good thing you're going to explain them to us, right?
Happy blogging!

I think we can agree that they are an improvement, at least.
It's helpful to suggest specific changes when making criticisms, from the perspective of one who designs missions.

hmmm didn't gavan make some faction logos a long time back?
I agree with myself that these logos suck. Lebermac could diarrhea better logos after a tequila and nachos bender.
It is widely known that Leeb's considerable talent is merely enhanced by tequila and nachos.
bunghole is like a fusion of Ecka, Maxx Metal and Dr. Lector. Eerie!
Following on from my previous post in this thread, here is an example of a basic single colour logo for the Itani without any bells and whistles.
I have replaced the shield and wreath with symbolized hands* at either side which can have many connotations for the Itani, ..the protective hands of their god, the guidance of Eo, the shielding of Itan (represented by the circle around the wormwhole) as just some examples.
The logo has also been influenced by the Valkyrie ship with a more circular design intregrated into it.
*Place your hands straight out in front of you, place your thumbs together and form a cup shape.

This is more along the lines of what I had in mind, except your paths need smoothing and i'd prefer just straight ellipses rather than having them attack to the central circle.

Heh, Spidey, your memory is epic. This shit is from 2006.
Anyway, usually this manner of design-by-committee turns me off (and this has to be the worst example I've ever seen). But, for posterity (yeah, I get the irony):
