Duel Ladder
I was wondering how the actual 'Rating' number is calculated on the Duel Stats page? Also, for there to be a draw do both players have to explode at the same time or do they just agree to a draw and how does this affect the 'Rating' number?
As far as the number, seems to be a pretty standard elo system like that used in chess. For a draw, I'm not sure, it USED to be that if you both exploded (including if their explosion took you out). Now, I don't know the conditions for a draw anymore.
Yeah, its like "if you die within x amount of time of each other". You can forfeit a duel too, but AFAIK, that counts as a loss.
There is also the /duel abort command, which requires confirmation from the other player. I think it lets you stop a duel with no one losing or gaining rating.
Thanks, using an elo type system makes sense. What is AFAIK, I looked on the wiki but couldn't find it, does it mean running away?
AFAIK = As Far As I Know
LOL, was too busy thinking it was a VO acronym to spot the bleed'n obvious, thanks Phaserlight. Please feel free to hit me roughly about the sweed with a large, wet and slimy trout.
I live on the ocean, would a tuna fish suffice?
Speaking of the Duel Ladder, my rating changed a couple months ago and it hasn't updated yet...
Tuna are quite a bit bigger. That would hurt.
Beat him with the pointy end of a marlin.

It may only update when we manually re-build the site. We'll look into it and get it automated on a nightly or weekly process if it isn't already.

The odd thing is, the rating is updating (it's tracked my recent duels) but the list isn't changing....
So if I search my name on the duel ladder, I see my up-to-date rating, along with my recent duels... but the public ladder list is somehow disconnected.

The database will always be current. Some of the website information is pulled from the database periodically and rendered statically, to provide kind of an architectural "cache", so if we get a gazillion visitors, that doesn't translate to a lot of pointless dynamic code running and unnecessary database queries. However, the "periodic" part for the duel ladder was apparently not made to happen very often, and currently only works when we manually re-build the site. So, that just needs to be improved.
Well as long as you are taking the time to yack about it how about a manual site update.
How about landing on planets and tee pees
Why do you want to land on a teepee?
Next best thing, since Mecha's Sybian is out for repair.
On THAT note: locked.
