Timing of anniversary events
Hi All!
I would like to ask the organizers/hosts of the Anniversary events to think over the starting time of the future events. Many members of the playerbase live in the "old european" region, which means the proposed start of 01:00 UTC means 2 am or even 3 am (CEST) local time. We also would like to participate in these events which fall just in the middle of the night. So if 3 hours earlier or 3 hours later starting time could be achieved that would be much better, and still not too bad for US citizens. 22:00 UTC means 23:00 or 00:00 european local time which is on the edge, while 04:00 UTC means 05:00 or 06:00 european local time. In case moving the proposed time is impossible then I'd suggest to post the event at multiple different times, so people in different timezones could also participate.
Regards,
bladerus

+1!
Seems like it's still pretty hard to enjoy VO if you live in Europe.
Good luck to GS with that
Good luck to GS with that
I have seen a 100 chat that called european users 'not proper' players through timezone differences. It might explain a few things as to player numbers.
Pirren complaining - lol
Pirren complaining - lol
You're basing this on the rantings of somebody on 100?
People in Australia, Thailand, and China all connect to the VO main server. I don't think there should be any difference for those living in Europe. Any player is as much a part of VO as the next, regardless of what time zone he or she lives in.
I agree. I play mostly late at night and appreciate that there are people on.
If people with generally terrible pings and lag are disincentivized from playing VO, so much the better.
Ah, Dr Lecter.... hard at working increasing Guild Software's profits as usual... Your the epitome of a loyal supporter
Ah, HuntrCkr... contractions are too hard for you.
We're sorry that there weren't more events, or more that were better scheduled for people outside of the Americas. This wasn't intentionally exclusionary.. we were pushing very hard on development all last week, and then fixing bugs, trying to mark the 10-year anniversary both with meaningful changes as well as our general desire for game stability.
As a result, the events were thrown together at the last minute by some very tired devs. In the future, when we have a bit more time to prepare, we'll try to include something for those in substantially different timezones. We've never done anything to intentionally exclude anyone in other locations, we just have resource limitations.

Hey Inc!
I know you and the whole team is doin' a great and hard job to put everything fine together. I have never thought that this happened intentionally. The most devoted players could participate the events posted. On the basis of the responses I think that I just don't belong to that highly devoted core. It's no problem for me, because I have fun during that time I'm on.
So keep up the flow of updates
Wishing you all the best!

p.s.: my connection never lags :D

lag was not an issue i mentioned at all. Non us timezones was.

The two go hand in hand the majority of the time.

I have a lower ping then some US players ( not many granted ), so lag is generally not a big problem for me, time-zone is many times if get of work a few players are around but not that many.
on the weekends its a little better for the euro players as NW is in a generally EU friendly timeslot.
one of the problems is all the events are targeted to American players and the timezones issues generally do show up, it would be great if there where some events that where on euro peak time.
in generally as a European player yes I do feel sometimes put in a 'second rate position', as a lot of the fun happens out of my timeslot. ( including events but also the day to day stuff in the universe ), and pirating well feel pointless sometimes, as your in-front of a wormhole waiting until that 1 European trader comes by, lucky there is weekends where I can break out of my own timeslot and just stay up a couple of extra hours ;), and go to sleep at like 4 AM ;).
let alone that all the language issues. ( not a native english speaker )

@Dr.Lecter I played against many American players I have no had one complain about me lagging, so no that is a non issue, its only Timezone that is a issue ( et-least I never had any player complains about me lagging ) including the Americans I fight against. ( let alone the fact that its a jerkish thing to say to a relatively large part of the VO player base ), plus your insulting is not helping make the game any more fun for European players, so yes I'm going off on you because you're actively damaging my fun ( and profit ) by trying to get European players to quit Or to put it simpler: don't be such a selfish jerk.
