Joystick Calibration
Using a uSoft FF2 stick. I would like to modify some of the values such as DEAD ZONE and SATURATION. I can go to OPTIONS -> CONTROLS -> JOYSTICK and there are four choices to set: XYZ Axis and Throttle. I can find no further "calibration" access or choices on that screen. I need to reduce the sensitivity near center position. I would also like to change some of the button functions/bindings.

You're on Windows right? The calibration you can do in the game controllers properties, but the deadzone values you'll have to edit by hand in the configuration file.
Windows, yes... Sorry to leave that out. You stated: "The calibration you can do in the game controllers properties..." That's where I need to go but so far all I can get to In OPTIONS - CONTROLS - JOYSTICK is four lines setting the XYZ axes, throttle and "Invert" function. Nothing about any other setup. The deadzone I'll leave for the moment but how about sensitivity or saturation? Joystick button bindings?

The buttons are treated like keyboard keys and are configured via the "Keyboard" area. Go in, click the function you want to set, and press the joystick button.
As for calibrating it, I think he meant you should just use Window's control panel, under the "game controllers" area. It sounds like the game doesn't have a built-in calibration area in the Windows version, since Windows handles that itself.

In regards to deadzones and saturation, it's really not that hard to sort out either, just open the config.ini file (if you use UAC, you might want to copy it to somewhere else, edit it, then copy it back) and look in your joystick section for the lines:
xaxismindeadzone=-10
xaxisdeadzone=10
xaxisminsaturation=-95
xaxissaturation=95
(if you have more than one stick, there will be more lines further down)
I find 25 on the deadzones better when I use a gamepad, I tend to leave saturation alone.
Hmm, really shouldn't be that much harder to add deadzone sliders to the Joystick GUI, but I guess that whole area could use some work.

Yes, there should pretty much be a "Successfully configured a joystick" accomplishment badge. Especially for people on Android. The interface definitely needs some work.
I've never actually had any problems with joysticks...
Some of us Pilots are coming from a different universe. And we all have our own personal settings of flight control. But if you have to go into Machine Configuration to do such things for setting this up then that leaves me out. Cause when it comes to a online game, I will not touch my Machine Settings for no-one.

You don't have to though. You only have to do that for the generic calibration, i.e. making sure the stick knows where the center point is and where the limits are, so that you don't spin when you let go. That is a global thing and should be the same in all games.
The actual configuration, i.e. how big should the deadzone be, etc., is done in the game's cofiguration file. Those are the things that you might want to differ between different games.
