Mumble server
I am thinking of setting up a general mumble server for Vendetta Online. It would be unmonitored and guilds and party can request channels with or without passwords.
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in something like this? Please let me know. I do not want to use my time if no one is going to use it.
Also is this against and ULA?

I don't have any problem with people using their own voice chat solutions.
Although, since we have integrated voice chat, I would ask what's lacking about the current system that makes a mumble server advantageous? Clearly, ours is limited in the number of simultaneous people per channel (to keep a lid on bandwidth), but I'd be curious if it's just that, or if there's some other benefit we don't have.

I assume you mean other then the Narn opera that was streaming over mine last night....
:D
:D
Or that mine won't recognize the mic in VO's chat but will on any other sound recording software?
Raven: That's weird. I assume you tried manually selecting the device in the voice chat Options?
As I recall, the most common complaint is that VC is limited to 8 people. Has that gotten fixed while I've been away?
Lol PaK. On that subject some might find songs like this that have played offensive too. Personally I found it to be hilarious but I could see why it could maybe be offensive....

Groups - and therefor non-bugged non-guild VC - are still limited to 8 people. The guild-wide VC can, I assume, handle more.
We don't have a VC equivalent to 100 though (other than when it breaks and turns universal-ish), which is probably a good thing.

Let me first start out by saying I am noob to this game I have subscribe thou and it maybe my noobieness on how the voice chat works in game. When I was still in the trial period I ask about voice chat mumble or something like that. They said there is but it only for guilds and groups. And someone stated they wished there was a mumble server, so when I found I like the game and subscribe I thought “hey I can host a mumble server”. That where the post came from. I am not sure it will work in this type of game or if its needed. I thought I would throw it out there and if there is enough of need/want I would put the time in to do it.
I am not sure there are a lot of advantages to mumble over the integrated Team speak. Other then it out side the game so there some freedom for people to create there own rooms and have a general voice room. Yes people will talk smack and get loud but you can moot them and in IRC I do not see it a lot so I think we can control themselves for the most part.
Mumble/Murmer project is a great open source (BSD License) client/server it uses the speex codex which is only 8 kHz to 32kHz you can set the bandwidth type.

I've got a mumble server I use for some other things, but really I like how VO's built in voice chat works better, you don't have to fudge around with extra software or configuring things, you just /group invite whoever and it's all handled by the game.
I agree to ingame voice chat would be great! It maybe my noobieness, but when a friend and I try try group chat the mission go away in favor of group missions. which is fine, but if you are look just to hang out while you play the game it does not work that way. I am not sure on the team Speak API but it would be cool to add some or all the features from this post http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/19005#238752 and add a premium account to pay for the extra bandwidth cost. I know I would pay up to 15.00 a month for all these cool voice features. Lets face it this is a close I will get to space so I would love for it to as realist as possible.
I will work on setting up a server just to see if anyone use it.

here are the details of the mumble server. Right now It is one big room
server = vo.5xdata
port = 64738 < default
Password = VOnline
Right now User-names and not have spaces or special char in them I will work on getting that fixed.
If you need the client. you can download it here http://mumble.sourceforge.net/
Here is a good vid on setting up mumble if you are new http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wu70kq5tYGw just remember to change to the right server name.
