I'm gonna have to break this up.
All this "every one wants to be a pirate" or "here is the itani karma table" or "here is the serco karma table"
4 Words for this thread.
Too worthless to read all of it.
Not to mention long.
Now classifying nations "karma" on your table is just pure idioticy. You can not classify an entire nation for what they think. Some people might feel everyone is a "3" while another thinks people start at a "-5". So there really is no starting point for all players to the itani nation. Then you talk about people who have done something and they might be hated by Itani nation forever because of it. That person could easily make another character and play. Get really good friends with the people and then finally show himself. Will the Itani hate him? No.
People just want to play. People don't want to listen/follow/stay to the "karma" system like you have. People have what they believe and others don't believe in anything.
Flame coming in 3...2....1....
"Brainstorm #1: Antisocial Behavior"
What a stupid topic. If you want to brainstorm http://www.brainstormsw.com/ dl that and have fun.
Flame ending in 3...2....1....
There is no such thing as exactly "Antisocial Behavior". There is something close but no "Antisocial Behavior"... Example...
Billy <----hated by Johny and 100 other people. Billy does his normal day actions and they think that what he says he is doing "antisocial behavior" because they all hate him. He tries to talk to them but THEY kill the convo short and just think he's the one being antisocial. This is what they believe is him.
Billy goes to another group...now billy is liked by about 1mil people. He talks to every single one of them does exactly what he did to the first group. A few of them in this group hate him but when they see his actions are "different" from what was before. They realize he isn't Antisocial at all. He's actually a quite talkative, happy person who is trying to enjoying life with as many people as possible. So MOST people who see this drop thier old "classifications" of this person and go with the new ones. When you start putting out things like "karma" and crap like that onto everyone. It does more damage than just walking off and not talk about the subject.

While many points are well-made, characterizing one's topic and arguments as "stupid" is poor form.
StarFreeze: If you can't be bothered to read the topic, don't bother to reply. Not trying to flame you, but show at least that much respect, please. This thread has been working just fine.
Genka: Exactly. Of course, some factions may not agree with others. For example, missions for the Serco against the Itani would put you on their sh** list real quick. Likewise, the supposedly trade-oriented Neutral Territories would blacklist you for working with Pirates, but such actions wouldn't necessarily offend the Serco, so long as it didn't impact their shipments.

So, Itani missions against NT might not impact your standing with Serco?
Well, working for the Itani in itself isn't going to help you any, but beyond that, it shouldn't impart an additional hit IMO. Should you manage to hit a crucial NT shipment bound for the front lines, acquire some form of proof and let your local Serco emmissary know, you could be in for some M4d B0nus. Then again, I'm talking like I know what's gonna happen.
I like the karma idea, and I think it should be by nation. I also think that you should be able to be a pirate - not aligned with any nation - by dropping your karma low enough with every nation. Thus if you are -3 from all 3 nations, you go "Green" that is, pirate, and can attack anyone. This would only work if taken with my idea from the "STATION!!!" thread.
Heh, well I assume there would be various groups outside of or within the individual nations whose favor you would wish to gain. For example, you can be as nice to the NT port controller as you like, but that won't get you into the trade union. Likewise, there are various pirate factions outside of the nations.
In Most MMORPGs, some people don't want to go along with the in-game role playing as such and then there just PK kiddies who have nothing better to do than kill other players all day and be in the top 10 kills.
If there are in-game penalties for killing a low level player, there going to do it anyways..
Well.. infact thats what happend to me in the earley days of another space flight multiplayer called Jumpgate.

Whoa...sounds like LeathaL :O
Well, that leads nicely into this week's brainstorm topic, in a new thread.
Closing Statement:
We've covered far too much territory in this brainstorm to just sum up in a few paragraphs, and I suspect that this will be the case for future brainstorms as well. My thanks to all who participated this session, and I hope that this will be helpful in the formation of a better community. By the way, if you have something relevant to add to the topic, by all means do so, but read what's written here so far first.
