I just finished my eight hours trial , and I just bougth an extra month. Is so much fun! :-)

I read that accounts with no payment may be wiped out after three months without payments. I'm starting now, but I'm almost sure that I'll have to take a few months break soon, but I wouldn't like my account to be deleted during this time.

Honestly, are inactive accounts costs that much to erase them so soon? Why not keep them for longer, say at least a year after the last payment (for non-trial ones)?

Nah.. they don't wipe inactive accounts. Where did you read that?

Guild tries to never wipe an account.

To the best of my recollection no account has ever been wiped out due to inactivity. The amount of data involved quite small.

I'm not sure where the three-month figure was posted, but I've read it as well. It's not a limit though, only a guarantee. They guarantee that they will not delete an account within the first three months of inactivity. They may or may not delete it afterward. They most likely will not. There are a lot of people who haven't played for years for whatever reason, and return to find that their accounts are still valid.

I returned after 6 years, and my account was still here... so chances are yours will be too ;-)

I think the only time the devs purge accounts is if a username is requested by someone and has not been active in a long while (like years?)... And even then I think they attempt to contact the original owner first unless it was a trial account... The wording is just to cover their asses in case they delete your inactive account during one of these rare cases.

Well, good to know. I guessed that deleting accounts would cause too much problems to make it worth a few KB =)

We've done one major account purge, between Beta and Release. We've always planned on doing another, not to save space, but to free up usernames and character names that are totally idle and unused (for years) in the database. We will definitely approach any future purge very conservatively.

Like pizzasgood says, the 3-month thing is a guarantee more than anything. We can be sure any account used within a 3 month period will get the kid glove treatment. That isn't to say we're going to dump everything else, but it gives people a ballpark to work with.
