POL, there has been a very big change in the works during the last six months, it's just completely irrelevant to most of us. Android. Not to mention the work toward capships that they've been doing - we just can't see it yet because it isn't finished, other than the manufacturing stuff. Also, FYI, as far as I'm aware they live in Wisconson, USA, not the EU.
Equanimizer: Just because we don't have capships doesn't mean you'd have to fly a fighter. We do have plenty of transport ships. If you can get some people to man your turrets you can add more complexity into flying a behemoth as well. We also have bombers. Bombing isn't normally very effective vs. fighters, but it's pretty essential if you're fighting a capship, such as in a border skirmish. In a large fight, bombers can also provide distraction.

Wow. Behold the angst (PoL + the usual Lecter). Well, I'm not going to get into another "why did you make these choices" historical analysis of everything we've done and haven't done for the last half-decade, beyond saying it has been a very challenging road, and it's no small thing that we're here at all. The last five years have been the roughest of my life.
At the same time, as of about the last month and a half, the company is now on the most stable financial footing that it has been.. ever. It is difficult to underestimate the impact of this, as our previous week-to-week instabilities was a large part of what made things challenging, and also informed our development choices as far as the fixation on immediate survival ("what will get press attention right now?!") rather than ideally-desired long-term design strategies (although we did manage to keep a fair amount of long-term stuff in there, like the ongoing key/station development). This current improvement in our situation is a result of my busting my ass over this calendar year, and bringing in funds from projects that have nothing whatsoever to do with what the player base desires. Like, say, our location in the Intel AppUp Store (doesn't seem real exciting, but we got a critically-timed and useful injection of cash from that).
As a result of our improved situation, there is more reason to be optimistic now than there was at any other point in the last five years. Especially those exciting years when my own personal drama (girlfriend + semi truck) vastly sapped my own energy and effectively had me running at a small percentage of normal output for a very extended period of time (ended up being years).
So anyway, the game, and our development progress, simply is what it is. I'm happy we're here. It is unfortunate that things aren't closer to the ideal, but I'm not going to apologize for it. People can take the game or leave it, and people can have faith or not.
Getting back to the original point of this thread: yes, I am working on bloody player-owned capships. (More likely, a capship). I would not spam out all these manufacturing missions if I didn't have some sort of goal. People may be as morosely pessimistic about my timing or chances as they desire; but I'm going to go ahead and ignore that and continue to focus on getting things done.

I've been participating in a power struggle over Bractus that is now in its 5th straight month of almost daily skirmishes between 7 different guilds so I don't know what all the there's nothing to do shit is about

"Indeed it is: disappointment."
Lies! You and I both know where the real heart & soul of VO is. These hallowed forums we frequent so dilligently. I for one, am never disappointed here.

I doubt the players who are complaining about the state of the game have even played recently, or if they have they completely ignored the large sections of new content.
Well, anyway, I think we've answered the original poster's questions, and then some. I don't want things to devolve into flame wars. Suffice it to say that the game has content wanted by some, but not the content wanted by others.
