Welcome, Ubuntu users.
Canonical has told me that, as of today, VO is now live in the Ubuntu Software Center.
So, while we've had a substantial Linux-user population since 2002, we now welcome.. more!

Wooo! Awesome. :D
YEEEESSSSSS!
I will see if I can confirm this.
[edit] its not up yet D:
[edit 2] well it probably has to do with the fact i checked with the eee and its under the system requierments or something.[

Well, it's up.. somewhere, as we're seeing Ubuntu-specific usage in our stats-tracking. But we could be seeing Canonical Q/A people or some such. At any rate, they specifically emailed me to tell me it was online, so I would hope it's in the process of being pushed out or some such.
thing is don't you need to lisense the game under the GPL lisense to put it in the ubuntu app thingy?
Not in the Software Center, no. That's the special area for pay apps and the like. Kind of an "App Store" for Ubuntu, with the potential to actually have a revenue stream for them. It's different from the normal package manager dealie. I don't know the specifics of where it's located in the UI, as I haven't used 10.10 yet.
ill check when i get to work I'm running 10.10 there
yup its there under for purchase
price says $0 and it also comes up under the search. woo
Epic, it asks you to make an account or if you already have one on first launch

how odd i'm using the "Ubuntu Software Center" its probably because i'm running 9.10 and 10.04
Yes, putting things up for sale is supposedly a 10.10 thing.
Good to hear it independently confirmed that it shows up.
The "do you already have an account" stuff is a back-propagation from Android. There'll be a number of other bits like that, down the road.

yup, found it :)
nice...I'll spread the word ;).

It's on 10.10, but not the netbook remix. So yay.
I am an Ubuntu user. Never heard of Vendetta before seeing it in the Ubuntu Software Center.
Having fun so far. I'm a 7 year EVE player, but I love twitch combat, so I'll be switching back and forth between the two.
Nice to have a game that works equally well under Windows and Linux. I have a ubuntu box at work so when I'm stuck updating servers on Sunday, I will have something to do.
Cheers,
Fantus

Cool, welcome to the game, glad you're enjoying it :).
Hello,
As soon Vo appeared on the store I installed it and after 8 hour of play was sold.
This is exactly the kind of game I want. I had to abandon EVE online because the complexity of the game simply was overhelming.
Now I have EVE, made usable and with the Wing Commander control set. Love it :)
I hope we'll have fun together.
See you in space!

See you both in space I hope, and please, do not whine when I blow you up. Instead PM me and say "Please mr.yoda, I know you are right, and everyone is a pirate. Please show me how!" or some stuff.
So like welcome to VO. Oh yeah, and on topic, it's now on the netbook remix also, but maybe you guys need to specify a minimum screen resolution or something. Trying VO on a crap Samsung NC10 was fun, and it ran OK at low settings, but it's screen is 1024x600. I know how to switch to window mode and drag it about (actually quite painful on this netbook) and you really should not be playing VO on the Acer Aspire One A110, it's just shit.

Ok...so I found VO in a thread online about linux compatible games. I immediately tried to download and install and failed miserably after about 1.5 hours of messing with it. I finally gave up and Dual booted windows, installed it there, and tried it out. I like it, but I'd love to be able to get it to work with my Ubuntu, as that is my primary OS. Its not in my Ubuntu Software Center...but I guess thats because i'm running 9.10.
The Ubuntu 10.10 software center install is completely different from our normal Linux package. So it might be simpler for you to get working. But, ultimately, getting the game to work on Linux is mostly about getting Linux to play nice with your OpenGL/videocard setup.
