Incredibly awesome game (seemingly) or at least the procedurally generated graphics engine is awesome (I believe that's how they are doing this anyways). However is it ever gonna be a game? And will it actually be a fun game?

Awesome seems to be overused by folk these days . I have lost track of how many trailers for non existant games I have seen.

Why play VO ? Most of VO works most of the time. The rest offer jam tomorrow , VO offers toast now, and we make our own jam.

I fear a bit that the full newtonian flight model without speedcap will make ship to ship combat very unpleasant.

It has a speedcap. Their excuse is slight gravitational and space gas drag. I've messed around a bit in their combat simulator and PvP isn't as good as VO, but it's decent.

Of course the ICP is like 3 years old, so things may have changed.

Uncapped by game-engine speed could work if you have an option to let a player specify his own max speed and a button to toggle it on and off (in case you need more speed for chasing). Then less skilled pilots could keep theirs set low during combat until they get a feel for it, and gradually increase it until they reach a point where they no longer require it.

Yyyeah. No one would ever complain about runners then! Or.. something.
