I'm succesfully gaining combat and light weapon xp. But how do I get some heavy weapon xp?

You get the light or heavy XP based on whether the finishing blow came from a light or heavy weapon (small port == light, large port == heavy).

Try botting with a revenant , put a stingray in the L port. Take a bot to low heath then kill it with L port.

Really, don't panic about heavy. It lags other licences until you unlock the megaposi by killing 10 queens, after that it tends to lead.

Beginner combat practice missions give a small amount of heavy weapons XP every few kills.

I mostly agree with DaveJohn... but, skip the stingray (they are terrible) and go for a Plasma Devastator which is not ammo based.

Stingrays are the only large port weapon you can use without any heavy license. Plasma E's are heavy 1 and 2, Plasma D's are 3 and 4.
