It's a kindergarden...

I won't go into much details because every last one playing this game knows what i'm talking about. If the so called guides doesn't start to take action, those that actually might be of great value to the futher development will disappear. Every time i log on i come to see a community that somewhat resemble a kindergarden - a chat that are way worst than those of quake, CS, halflife etc...

Can it really be true that one looses the lust for playing less than 5 minutes after logon? Can it really be true that posts like this are needed every 2 weeks? Are you - the devs - really interested in such a game community?

Personally - it makes me sick to log on and find such a good game ruined by what resembles a kindergarden playground...

the current state of the community is one reason why i stopped playing though lack of time was the major issue for me (i hate school).

all the "guides" seem to do is say they're there. my response to one guide who said that went along the lines of "who cares? you're never on when the real trouble happens." i had at least one player who was on at the time agreeing with me. the fact is the guides need to start cracking down on the idiots. the things that some people get away with is just unreal. better to clean up the community now while it's still small then wait for it to become the mess that counter-strike is.

Then leave.

/me shakes the magic dev ball.

Incarnate says: The entire guide system needs to be redone.

BusMasteR: Then leave.

It'll get better... I hope... Personally, I think it's a combined lack of guides and stuff for people to do... Once missions and stuff come around, it'll hopefully get a bit better...

Them leave.

you're getting your wish. civil players aren't going to put up with the constant garbage from the various idiots that now roam the Vendetta universe. as i said, the guides need to start cracking down on the idiots.

i hope things get better too. more guides is a must-have. missions will be nice too.

One thing I noticed when I became overly consirned that the community was falling because of exploits and what not...I became the one getting ripped on. Then I noticed if you just play and have fun do what you like knowing that this is just a TEST it feels a lot better and a lot more fun.

Busmaster: Amen. Unfortunately, I've been saying this for over a month. We need people to get banned, we need people to be PUBLICALLY muted. Then others will start to think twice about what they do.

SF, Targoyt, why don't YOU leave then? Or instead of posting flame bait, just NOT post.
Aug 25, 2003 alienb1212 link
Agreed furball....StarFreeze and others should stop trying to get others to leave, and just leave themselves....
Aug 25, 2003 SirCamps link
Guys.... no one is staying. You don't have a right to get offended here. Test, or leave. I agree with SF. When someone talks trash, /ignore them. You seem to forget this command and then demand that guides take action. If you can't ignore someone, or should I say, can't bring yourself to, /hidelog and play like that. You can still use the console for necessary chatting.

*YOU* are not so important that the devs will bend over backwards to carry out your wishes. Banning people only drives others away. Griefers are testers too, like it or not. They're part of the game, they always will be. They have a right to act however they want in game. It's not your concern. Demanding they be banned only starts a flame war.

It's a worth noting that SF is not "trying to get others to leave," yet is saying, if you're gonna go, GO! Don't make a scene about it. A private letter to the devs will make a bigger difference than flaming the ones you want banned.

The object, as SF said, is not to have fun, but to test, exploit, and cheat the boogers out of the game. By doing so, the devs will see what work they still have to do. Please don't make the mistake of assuming that in-game activity tells something about the character of the person. Any untested feature is probably exploitable to some cunning player once the engine goes commercial. Better to have SF station-nuking here than see the abuse go unnoticed and have it crop up in a game the devs depend on for money.

So, in short, suck it up, or leave--but don't b*tch to us about it--one tester is as good as another. You or Homestar, me or Furball.... we're all the same. And decent players are NOT leaving.... you make a big huff about it all, then end up either not leaving or coming back under a different name. Truth hurts.

SirCamps, correct, many decent players aren't leaving, but they're turning to kill others a lot more. Here comes my weird logic again, you get rid of 5 griefers, you end up getting 100 more n00bs to stay, only 10 actually becomes a good beta tester, but 10 is two times five.
Aug 25, 2003 StarFreeze link
SirCamps said exactly what I meant.

About the part of saying "then leave"...instead of draging on your comments about whats wrong who's doing what so on and so forth is like making a "i quit" post that has a lot of i'm leaving because someone did this and people exploit this too much.

Stuff you should do: Play, have fun, test, & enjoy the ride.

Stuff you shouldn't do: Don't make the game unusable by other players..ahem "sam"(spamming chat). Swearing like crazy...it's okay to accidently say a bad word but just endlessly ripping on someone with swear words is just outta line.

"Can it really be true that one looses the lust for playing less than 5 minutes after logon?"

Taking the game too seriously...it really isn't even a game...it's a test stuff is going to happen like exploits and stuff on a regular basis...thats what a test is.

"Can it really be true that posts like this are needed every 2 weeks?"
IMHO No: But you seem to want them to appear every 2 weeks.

"Are you - the devs - really interested in such a game community?"

This is not a game.

"Every time i log on i come to see a community that somewhat resemble a kindergarden"

Then walk away, if it really annoys you that much why stay and get all angry about it? Take some time off a week or two. When you come back there might be a new update and new stuff to test out.

This is a test.
Not beta.
Not alpha.
A test.
And as numerous people have stated this test is a lot better then normal beta games.

In response to SirCamps and StarFreeze:
I have no problem with people talking trash and exploiting. Those I can avoid if I want to (you can't forbid me trying to talk you out of it, though, SF. Remember, it's just a *test*...).
However, I do have a problem with people who spamtalk, causing excessive lag for just about everyone playing/*test*ing the game/*test*, rendering the game/*test* unplayable/un*test*able.
Aug 26, 2003 Suicidal Lemming link
Spammers are testing, sam was finding the reaction of bots to lag using spam, trying to find a bug.
Aug 26, 2003 Renegade ++RIP++ link
Ay,

It is a test. And you need to test something to see if there is a loophole, but once you found it , you arent just continuing in using it. Beause that would cross the line between "testing" and griefing.

So to put it in common english: If you do something once on the account of testing, then I can accept that. But when you everytime you log on test the so called exploit, then you arent a tester but a griefer that likes to see other people get misserable. "deuh, griefer ;)"

Besides SF, you said dont make the game unusable for other players, if I extend this given thing, then someone exploiting "rocketramming, stationmining, stationnuking" is rendering the gamer unusable to ME. So in short your point didnt have any value what so ever.

In my opinion, a test willl have success if:

1) A big statistical userbase
2) bugs are used AND fixed
3) People after using think about it as time spend for a good cause and not a waste of time.

Until know, the known exploits/bugs "rocketramming, stationnuking" are used even 6 - 8 weeks after finding them out. "If you were good testers, you would continue on and try some other configs to test them out in stead of using the baptised bye all ubersetup as unbalanced and buggy untill they have been fixed". Because of the exagerated use a lot of people are finding it more and more a waste of time in stead of time spend for a good cause. Because of this it also lowers the user base.

Once again, Im here with my statistics:

if 100 newbies enter the "test" at the moment:

80% : leaves
10% : stays and becomes a griever so they can take revenge
5% : stays and occasionally hops in to see the change
5%: stays and trys to convince people of the way some people act is no fun, no fun at all, and they should rethink their deeds.

If the game wouldnt have the grievers, it would mean for at least a 8% increase in an active "good" usefull membersbase. Naturally the 80% will decrease to , and in the end it will be somewhere aroiund 55% leaving.

The remainding 2% grievers are just people that are floating on the virge of staying and leaving and arer just there to have fun for themselves, but still try to not get banned/penalized.

Besides, if there is a too big active grieversbase then in the end everybody on a couple exceptions will be a griever and you wont hear anbythiong else then b*tching and complaining about every single problem. With as result that the devs will have more problems att hat time then know.

So people please, stop using the exploits untill the devs clearly stated that they fixed them, at that time open your exploiting book again and test it for a short while. At that time you are really testing if the devs did do a good job or if they covered every base, but when there is NO update in that sense then stop using the exploits. It just means it is on a lower base "due to some bigger fish to fry" but when it gets fixed, try it out to see if it is fixed properly.

cheers

Yeah, instead of using the same exploit over and over again, find new ones!
