Ok everytime i fight some one or duel someone i see another come and fire upon me and and they will always kill me it is very annoying. When i am fighting Icarus, Blitz, LeathaL or any red like them they always use tri flared valks and they keep going after me. and i have seen like 7people on 1 person it is impossible and i think that that should stop. Everytime i come outta the station and i wanna duel one of them more reds like Blitz or Leathal come if they are on and then kill me in the proccess of the fight or duel. I want at least someone to stop this 7vs1 bacause if u havent been in a fight with more than one player then u dont know but i am just saying they should have only one person fighting not 2thousand on 1 tell me what you think.

Ok, calm down, learn to count.
What's your point, anyway? We should be banned for doubleteaming?
I think this thread should be deleted.
It's aimed at specific people and also is aimed to flame them.

Well he does have a vaild point in that players tend to only use the triflare valk, AND that players are veryt dishonorable and they doubleteam. True, he shouldn't have named names, but I only recognize one of them anyway as doing that a lot. Leathal. Now I'm gonna back away from that. I've fought with players with icarus around, and he usually waits till the duel or what ever it is is done. Which is much better. But I don't remember you ever doing it Blitz. If you do, you should stop. Double teaming is unfairwhen used against an unskilled player.and when you're helping someone using triflares in a valk, it's EXTREMELY unnecessary. the Valk almost always wins.

if you want a 1 on 1, ask for a duel, announce it, and then fight.
if you don't, it's a free for all (to hostile players).

"if you want a 1 on 1, ask for a duel, announce it, and then fight."

Not so, Blaster. Many players just ignore it and charge on thru. I believe I named one.

I think you should go back to...

Ok, that wasn't going to be very nice.

But please understand, that its very difficult to take your seriously when you write a post like that. No matter how relevant your post might be, if it looks like it was written by a child, people aren't likely to take it seriously. After all, when a child complains people normally just assume that its a child whining.

What you are experiencing is just part and parcel of a multiplayer game. No one is going to stop them, even if they wanted to. The only way to stop them would basically be to remove the openness and multiplayer aspect of the game.

As you appear to be a fairly new player (I can't think of a post you've made longer than a month ago), I STRONGLY encourage you with the utmost degree of conviction to NOT go after Icarus, Blitz, LeathaL or 'any red like them'. I don't know what color you are, but if you find yourself involved in 7:1's or against Icarus, FIND SOME HELP!! It's not impossible to survive a 7 on 1 but its alot more frustrating than its worth. No, I take that back; without turbo tapping it probably is impossible to survive a 7:1 so stop trying. Why would you continue to try to 'honorably duel' someone who is engaged in total warfare? Even in a duel, no one showed up without a second precisely to avoid this sort of thing, so get in a group or else run and hide.
Aug 20, 2003 Blitz link
That "fairly new player" has a million score.
That reasons I keep killing him are switching chars in capps, verbal abuse, nuking stations, mining stations, doubleteaming (Nah, not really, but since he flames me for that, I'll flame back), tri flare valk (same as before) and more.
I've never seen LeathaL attack in the middle of a duel, and neither do I.
Each and every one who swears me or my friends will go to my personal black book, which isn't very nice.
Have a nice (not) day.

well obviously this is still a major problem in vendetta with tri-flare valks and the like. Personally i could have 10 people on just me and it wouldn't bother me. I"ll just make an excuse when i die like, uh i'm missing a key in my keyboard :D. But anyway one sure thing that needs to be done anyway is to have the valks and the sunflares toned down a lot. Not so much the valk but the sunflares since they are probably the easiest weapon to get used to. I see noobs come in everday and learn about the sunflares and then get this close to beating me unless I use the same type of weapon. That's what ticks me off. That and some people, not Leathal or Blitz, who come in during a duel even though I have announced it at least 3 times in CAPS LOCK. Of course you really can't do anything about that but hey it's part of the game.

One more thing, Johnsm712, learn some grammar or fix your sentences, and a thread like this should have been put in the suggestion forum so you can complain about how the sunflares need to be toned down. Because really, you can't do much about teaming up against one person unless of course.......ooooo i got idea. Ok me put it in suggestions

ok i am not just blaming those players and blitz i was not saying you and the other players should be banned i am just saying it is very annoying to have more than one player fighting you. Lets say u were me Blitz and i just came up behind u and killed you in the middle of a battle one u would be pist two it isnt very fair. You think that no one will be pist at u when u kill them in the middle of a battle we they will it does get frustrating.

I've never seen LeathaL attack in the middle of a duel, and neither do I.you cant think of all the times u have killed me in a duel, lets think of today. umm you killed me when i was fighting Baxcix tenra you killed me when i was dueling LeathaL.

LeathaL doesnt kill me as "much" as u kill me during duels he kills me but rarely the times leathal will kill me is prolly whenu are not on yeah did you think of that blitz. He so far has never killed me when when u are on. Weird huh Blitz so next time you post know what you are say and know the truth because u arent on all the time leathal is on.
Aug 20, 2003 The Kid link
and neither are you on all the time he's on.
Sorry, but I can't accept your logics.

What's really sad, is when a player has slumped to that level, where they KNOW they're making others miserable, and they just don't give a damn...

A duel isn't "OMG! I think it's a duel! I didn't say anything, but I THINK it is!".
About me getting shot from behind and getting pissed, well, this hasn't happened since the early 3.1 days, and I NEVER get pissed because of that.
It's a GAME for fsck sake.
I see nothing wrong in killing someone while there's a friggin WAR in 7.
I'm out of this thread. It makes me sick.

Johnsm712, don't waste your time arguing with Blitz, Icarus, LeathaL, etc.. I for one understand where you're coming from because I too have been in your shoes. The triple sunflare Valkyrie problem will hopefully be fixed sooner or later. For now you can easily nuke exploit rocket rammers or mine 'em to get 'em out of your way. I also find a heavy engine/heavy battery combo for a Warthog armed with an adv. gatling turret and Geminis to be helpful too. So feel free to use those.

As for the players themselves, there will always griefers and trollers in any online game. It's just something you need to learn how to deal with. Of course since Vendetta is labeled as an MMORPG, some may still argue that it's harmless role playing. I personally don't buy it though. But whatever. Because in-game moderators have been asked not to intervene with the "morals of gameplay", just about the best thing you can do right now is to kill 'em. Kill 'em by whatever means necessary and kill 'em repeatedly. And yes, that includes exploiting. After all, they stabbed you in the back during a duel, why shouldn't you return the favor?

The first thing I advise for you to do is to make lots of friends with your teammates. Get to know 'em. Hang out with 'em more by fighting along side 'em. Generally if you scratch their back, they'll scratch yours. Nice and simple, right? Nothing is more unforgiving and satisfactory than having a squadron corner a griefer into a station, and killing him (or them) repeatedly. It'll not only make their attitude feel unwanted, but it'll also teach 'em a good lesson. At times, however, you may find that the numbers are against you. This is when you start to utilize a few guerrilla tactics. Lightning mines, proximity mines, and nukes are your best friends when you're alone in the field.

If a bunch of griefers are chasing you and if you've got a good headstart, start planting mines into the nearest station. You may also consider planting mines at blind corners of an asteroid or areas where you'll need to a squeeze a spaceship through. Go back to the station and reload. Then wait for your griefers to arrive, with their shiny rocket ramming Valks. Once they've spotted you run towards the areas which you mined. Almost all the time they'll be dumb enough to run into your trap and explode.

Also familiarize yourself with a few exploits. Don't let them become a habit, but instead use them as a last resort. Squeezing off an Avalon torpedo while facing the inner walls of the docks the split-second before you dock will usually create a satisfying explosion, taking out the best of griefers who are caught off guard. However this usually only works once or twice, unless you're dealing with real retards. Repeat this process until they finally leave you alone. This is a highly effective tactic, but it takes a lot of skill at timing to pull off just right.

Anyway, keep these tactics in mind the next time someone acts up while you're dueling. Be sure to warn newbies and friends via private message to let them know about the situation at hand so they don't get caught in the crossfire. There's nothing uglier than having a war erupt in a sector due to miscommunication and ignorance. If all else fails, you'll always have your home nation sectors to go to for additional support--NPCDEFs.

Yes... we all love the insane DEF bots that a1 made, don't we...

/me sighs

the solution to griefers and exploiters is NOT griefing them or exploiting them. It is by getting into their head and letting them see the error of their ways not pestering them out. Because pestering will only add to the griefers pool, and casting out everybody isnt an option.

cheers

Right on, Pavan! That's the problem, they simply don't care to listen. And just like in reality, sometimes killing is the only way out. It's a nasty job but somebody's gotta do it.
Aug 20, 2003 Sage link
Usually they don't listen to reason though. They grief or exploit because it's fun. The griefers realize that it is just a game, but they don't understand that other people want to have fun too, and many of them don't give two sh*ts about it. I avoid station mining and nuking because the only time I tried it to get at "reds like them," by mining the station, I ended up killing a n00b. Granted, it was actually a vet in disguise, but still. I learned my lesson about not letting others get in the crossfire. Nuking I don't do because its retarded. It's an exploit, not a lack of balance (like the Valk problem is), and it is therefore not cool.

"not a lack of balance (like the Valk problem is)"

/....must...not....get...off....topic.....

*sigh* I think the Valks are actually just about perfect now. (I fight them in non-special ships more often than flying one myself, so I feel justified saying this).

I donno, I was fighting several reds and blitz back off to watch, so dont be so quick to condem him. If you can afford the loss (both economicly and egotiscaly), fighting against superior odds is a great way to gain skill. There are a MANY players who will fight with the numbers on thier sides, even against a single centurion, so blaming a few people is not very effective. I cant even agree that fighting many on one is unethical...

A side note, its been a while since I have played, but I have noticed that out of the first 20 people I have encountered yesterday, 17 were hostile.

Well, I can understand your frustration, Johnsm712. But, 7 is a pretty heavily travelled sector and a prime location for all-out war situations (centrally located, no bots, easily accessible station, etc.), so it's probably not the best location for duels. And you did declare you were dueling, right? You can't blame someone for attacking when there's no reasonable way for them to understand there's a duel taking place.

That said, I enjoy participating in huge battles at times. As someone's already said, it's a good way to gain experience and improve on skill. I don't care about my K/D ratio, so I have no problems getting into a huge hairball with my trusty cent or vult. Dodging grav, gauss, 'flares, homing missiles, and swarms all at the same time is a good way to die - but it's also a good way to learn to control your ship in physics mode, dodging and aiming at the same time.
