In the more than five years I have been playing VO I have noticed a trend... nobody gets everything they want. Not the pirates, not the traders and not nationalists... no one.

In recent history, traders got more secure national borders, the XC and the new mining moth and scan blockers.
Pirates got the Greyhound, cargo scanners and lucrative trade routes through Gray Space...(which in theory draws traders into Gray).

All in all, both sides got things that the community as a whole had been wanting for as long as I have been here and more is coming. Not long ago Inc said he was going to look though models of ships not yet in the game to either give us more ships or better looks for the seriously ugly ships, I do not recall which. The four guys who run the game are working towards giving us capitol ships, fixing the economy and fixing the faction system. Are there times when I get bored in VO? Absolutely but I make the best of it. Fortunately for me I have friends in VO that are pretty much always up for doing something, which alleviates the doldrums and makes it fun again.

If you want to make changes so badly, join the PCC and get started otherwise you are just like one of those people who does not vote and whines about politics. To be blunt and some what vulgar, shit or get off the pot.

I do not imagine whining and quitting in a big dramatic way worthy of a thirteen year old girl will force the developers to bend to your will or submit to your idea of what VO should be. But, by all means keep whining and not appreciating the game that four people have dedicated so much of their time to... it may in fact accomplish something. They may decide to pull the plug on VO.

This is a load of fucking bull shit Inc. We have given feed back and either been ignored or ridiculed to the point of attaining the attitude of why fucking bother. We gave you our in depth analysis and opinions of the drop off curve early on in the economic changes.

..and that feedback was interesting and useful at the time, and yes, I would have acted on it, but something bad happened and I needed to go away and do something else to keep the company afloat. I'm not apologizing for it, we wouldn't be having this enthralling conversation if I hadn't. My being unable to follow up on that since that conversation is not tantamount to my "ignoring" anyone. Yes, there's lots to do with improving User-Dev communication, so long term goals are clearer and all that crap, and I just don't have the freakin' TIME, or the personnel, or the funding, or the.. anything else, to have made that happen. So if people want to assume that I am ignoring them, and that I hate traders.. instead of my being forced to fire off short-term goals to Ray that I know he can accomplish without design oversight while I'm insanely busy on some other business project for some months, well.. people can assume whatever they want to.

My perspective on Suggestions is that I'm looking for continuous, ongoing feedback, not just a single instance.. and from then on you guys just stew about it in the background. I spent a lot of time on those trade routes, if that hasn't helped, or isn't providing much fun (or is?) it's nice to know from people. I have heard basically nothing; but man, every time I change some conquerable station thing I get a ton of interest. I need ongoing feedback from traders, preferably without a lot of hyperbole and angst. If we do implement something to impact demand curves, will we ever hear about it? Or will you just be posting angst to some private guild forum somewhere, that I never see? The conquerable station stuff is faar from perfect, but at least people are still telling me where they'd like to see changes.

When you fixed the problem with hive escort did you make an announcement? If its been consistently broken why would I bother trying again in the last 5 months?

Generally we announce every change we make to every version. Usually in the patch log, news post, general forum, RSS, Facebook, MacUpdate, Freshmeat, and an overview post on twitter..

I also am sick of seeing pirates getting everything they want, something that has gone on all along for as long as I can remember and certainly didn't "happen before the game existed". I'm not even sure what you mean by that, Incarnate.

I cited the example of wanting higher value routes to be in more dangerous territory. This was designed in the 1990s, although it has only started to really be implemented much more recently. Some seem to think it's due to a desire to "cater to current vocal pirates". So, basically, people are attributing certain decisions I've made to catering to current people, when actually the decisions are over a decade old.

ANYway, I'm going to continue doing what I'm doing the best that I can, and keep trying to improve the game for all playstyles, and hope that someone still enjoys things and gives me feedback. That's about all I can do.

to the opening thread and death fluffy:

-Fuck you. This is getting better than ever every week and if the game was restored to the point where you thought it was good (for some retarded reason) I would leave because it would be boring and unplayable!

People like you guys really fucking piss me off and you should both hope to never run in to me.

I appreciate the support, but I think I'll go ahead and lock this now, before things devolve into any more of a shouting match. Both sides have said their piece, clearly there are a lot of gameplay issues to be looked into, which are very near and dear to various play styles.. and my cup continues to runneth over with too many projects and not enough development resources.
