Stick Calibration
I've got a problem. I just switched from mac to windows and I could swear I remember an axis calibration in options/controls/joystick/ somewhere and now on this new windows installation I can't find any way to calibrate a stick axis.
What's up with that?
How do I calibrate my stick?

You may need to use the OS calibration. In XP it's in Control Panel under "Game Controllers". In Windows 7 it's apparently harder to find, and some threads seem to recommend searching for 'game controller' to bring it up. I don't have a 7 machine within easy reach right now to look.
I'm not sure if the axis calibration is only available in the Mac and Linux clients, since they don't have OS-level calibration. I'd have to check. But using the OS calibration should be fine.

first, take your right hand
And use it to kill zamz with extreme prejudice.
On topic however, I run 7 and i took a poking around btu didn't get far as i had to run off to work, I found the device manager but thats a mess and no option to calibrate it from there. To my shame I don't know where it is simply because I have never had to use it in 7. I'll try looking again.
[edit] found it in like 2 seconds, go under start and then devices and printers in the start menu, you should see your stick listed there and then right click and then game controller settings. Menu should pop, highlight the device and click properties and then go under the settings tab in the next window. You'll see a calibrate button there, just like on xp...just takes longer to get to it on 7.

Wow, thanks for the effort but I guess I should have mentioned I'm running Vista home premium 64 bit.
Didn't want to jump on board with 7 right away as it's still new and probably has few problems. Thought i was better off with the os that's been out for a while and had the bugs worked out.
Any way, you've at least given me a new direction to look in. Would never have thought of an OS calibration. I'll look for that. Thanks again.

Interestingly enough, Win7 out of the box has more stuff worked out than vista out for years....
Hey Spence!
Found it Touriaus. Thanks for the idea. Going in game to try it out now. Personally I liked the in-game calibration interface better but this should work.
Yup, That did it. My stick is all calibrated and working perfectly. Thanks for the help.

Well glad it helped out in any case.
