- Only those taking a given Border Skirmish mission may dock with that
mission's capital ships.
- If you destroy a player or NPC in Border Skirmish, your standing
with that side's faction will be reduced a small amount.

Also "There will also be a CTF test event later today (Saturday), see the in-game Event system for more information. The "big" planned CTF event is next Saturday; the event today will hopefully test mechanics and work out any remaining bugs."

Very nice. :)

A quick response on these issues. Now move Geira O4 to the other side of the wh and require players be hate with the opposing side to take the missions so Serco doesn't need to home at Itani stations.

Nice update but:
Played through a small skirmish this morning and lost a TON of faction points cause of splash damage. I like the idea of losing a little faction when you kill a enemy bot/player, but i lost 6 points with each splash kill. And then when you die you get your ship back for free, just not the addons :P

EDIT: Also the faction gained for completing and winning a mission is WAY less than that lost for killing an allied NPC. Which makes since.

Waffles: Well.. if you blow something up, which then kills a bunch of their people, (via splash, or whatever) wouldn't the opposing side probably be unhappy about that? I mean, whether direct or indirect, you've killed a bunch of their people..

I agree but, If you destroy a player or NPC in Border Skirmish, your standing with that side's faction will be reduced a small amount is 6 points. And you get no noticeable faction gain from a Small skirmish and 1 point for a large. I spent most of today regaining and losing faction because of NPC's flying into my swarm stacks.

Can we get some restitution for getting killed by our own NPCs :P

I think waffles concern is that he (as an itani) is losing itani standing to splash damage. Because the mission itself gives far less of a gain in faction then the kills take away, he's getting a net loss of his home faction every time he participates in a border skirmish and blows up an enemy cappy, This doesn't actually give one an incentive to do the missions, as the hassle of then repairing your native faction is just a pain.

Erm, yea. I don't think Incarnate meant me to do it that way, and I didn't think it through. I'll remove the penalty from your own side right now.

Oh, I see. Yes, good. Sounds like Michael is on it.

Waffles: I made a bug report about that and it was completely ignored.

Kierky: tis fixed now! No complaining :p.

You sure it was removed? I just took a standing hit for an NPC hitting a missile stack while on a small.
May 12, 2010 endercp12 link
yeah, from what i can tell now (been in deneb for the past few days) im not taking any faction hit for killing OpFor, but still take a hit for friendly fire. Me thinks someone got something backwards

Doh! Properly-tested fix in place now.
May 14, 2010 Roda Slane link
I don't understand. Should you not take a faction hit if you are killing more of your own team than the enemy?

I mean...if you suck so bad that you are a liability to your own team, shouldn't they kick you from combat?

I can see exceptions. Like when bidi bada killed iry with swarms aimed at me. but clm is stupid. ok. i guess we can leave the itani side stupid too. but the serco?

Wow, that would be a interesting twist, making the Serco less tolerant of screw ups than the other nations. I don't know how doable it is, though.
