BountyBot Lottery Tuesday

12»
Aug 11, 2003 BountyBot link
There will be another 800 Million+ credit lottery on Tuesday.

Since the bulk of this jackpot is the carryover jackpot from Friday, it should be much easier to buy decent odds in this drawing.

Once again, three prizes will be awarded: 50%, 35%, & 15% of the jackpot.

Information about BountyBot, the lottery, the bank, and placing bounties can be found as usual at www.bountybot.com.

I don't want to rain on anybody's parade, but isn't it kind of pointless to hold the lottery is everything is being reset when 3.3 is released? I like the concept of the lottery but why win all that money to only lose it when everything is reset? I suggest waiting till after the reset to hold the lottery.

Just my 2¢ worth :-)

Running the lottery tests how well bountybot works.

Besides, lotteries are just fun! For the last few days don't you just want to be able to do whatever ingame with out worrying about money?

Methinks Bountybot is going to have some trouble making such copious amounts of money once the 3.3 reset is initiated. After all, how often are people going to be able to afford placing bounties when all their money is gone AND the revamped economy makes money so much harder to come by?

we had bounty bot a bit before 3.2, and well, it is working well now-a-days isn't it?

Give a service and buyers will come, adventually.

The Tuesday, 13:39 PDT drawing is now worth more than 1 billion credits.

With 3 prizes, odds are good for smaller players. Each entrant is only elligable to win one of the 3 prizes, which increases the odds for remaining players after each prize is awarded.

HOLY SHMOLEY!!!

Why don't you make it 5 prizes or more? That way more people win and everyone is happier. And don't let any of the winners from last time win, I couldn't stand to see frapray have 1billion credits. :(

*puts pinkie in mouth* One BILLION credits!

Sorry, couldn't resist... :P Ooo... If this were implemented as government lotteries (like MassBucks or whatever)... That would be awesome... >:D

Would players be more interested in a lottery where they had to pick winning numbers? This would allow there to be zero or many winners per drawing...

I didn't go with that concept because I thought the process of buying tickets would become too cumbersome.

And what incentive would players have to spend more credits?

I think the first place prize should be the only one that can be un-winable, like here in connecticut the powerball lottery people might not have the powerball number, so that prize increases each time people don't have the number.

(no clue what states have the powerball lottery)

How about something simple, such as choose a lucky number between 1 and 1000. A percentage of the current jackpot gets divided among the people who have the lucky number. And the more a person bets on the number, the larger share they will receive. EG. 2 people bet and have the same winning number. 1 bets 1 mil and the other bets 2 mil. 1 person gets 33% and the other gets 66%. This way the winner isn't determined by which one with has the most money will win. But by luck.

make that 1 to 200 and ppl might get the same number :)

Interesting idea. Even doing a # between 1 and 100 would make it hard to have one person buy up every #, and they'd be more likely to share the jackpot. And the ratio of winnings could be based on the relative purchases on just the winning #, instead of in the whole lotto.

(Ie: player1 could put 1M on each of 100 #s, player2 could put 1M on just #42, and if #42 won, each would get 50.5M.)

I'm starting to really like this idea. Can anyone think of problems with it?

yeah

people like Sam keep winning...

then win again cause they've got the cash.

i just added over 7 mil today. in other words: all my money. i'll see if i win something. i don't think that i will but that'd be nice if i did. :)

if not, i'll take a break from Vendetta until 3.3. that or be on during flag caps.

No reset for 3.3. So we are all in big trouble.

BountyBot - I see a potential problem with the 1-100 idea;

Joe Schmo continually bets 1 cr on each and every 100 numbers until one day the winning number is something nobody else picked and he wins 500 million credits.

Since you *know* people are going to do this, why not make the number something between 1 and 12, just to make their life a little easier and to make the amount of money you wager a little more important? (Or better yet, make the number a random 5-digit binary ;)

It could work just like the current system; you wouldn't make an amount of the pot proportional to the amount you wagered, your *chances* of winning the grand prize would be proportional to the amount you wagered *provided* you also chose the right number.
