Hehe, bankbot is still bettah:)
hehehehe
BountyBot decided not to change his player name to BankBot because players are probably more familiar with the BountyBot name.
Or were you talking about the unfinished and never functional 'Bank Bot' of yours?
Or were you talking about the unfinished and never functional 'Bank Bot' of yours?
Hey, it WAS finished and fully functional, and had features that you are boasting about in your 2.0 version(e.g. it was impossible to lose money with BankBot). Plus it had features that BountyBot doesn't have - can YOU run multiple instances of BountyBot in different sectors(all on different computers around the internet) such that they would all be integrated into the main system? You could with BankBot. Does your bot have anti-flood protection?(maybe it does, I don't know) BankBot does.
However, I couldn't host it at the time, and after 3.2 came out SF shut down the bank so it became pointless to deploy it.
Maybe when (if) I come back in 3.3, BankBot will come back with me(if SF starts up the bank again).
I don't want to start a flame war on whos bot was(is) better, but DO NOT try to put down BankBot, when you don't know what you're talking about.
P.S. I own the BankBot name anyway, so you couldn't change to that even if you wanted.
P.P.S. I'm sorry about the tone of this post, but your comment pissed me off.

I'm going to support romirez, I have a copy of the script, and I tried on vendetta once, and I also noticed the antiflood feature etc. It looked pretty darned good.
When the version that comes out has a dynamic economy the bank will prolly be restarted but with a few conditions. Rates will be lower since money will be harder to fund it not to mention we don't need everyone to be rich instantly with bank cds.
Stuff about the bounty bot.
1. It says your bounty if you talk...for some reason that HAD to be added. I just know it's gotten quite a few people annoyed.
2. It tells your account status for the banking. You can also send someone 0 credits so everytime to get on and talk bb messages you and tells you that you have 0 credits in your bank currently.
3. Anti-flood protection? Not a chance...hehe as many people have demonstrated...multiple /msg "BountyBot" help more or /msg "BountyBot" play lotto ...basicly hangs the entire bb system to the point where nothing can be done.
4. The bank system I kind of like where you can give someone money and they can pick it up later or something like that just annoying thou that someone can give you 1 credit every second and bb will just keep messaging you that someone has gave you 1 credit or even 0 credits for that matter. If someone was to come into the same sector as you and kept giving you 1 credit you could easily leave the sector and it would be all over with. Not to mention you wouldn't really need to do that because money transfers happen instantly going straight within vendetta.
5. The bb is in sector 7 which of course is closer to itani nation thus for bounty taking against other gold and reds is easier because blue usually occupies sector 7 most of the day. Since BankBot can all connect to one main system which works quite well the bank would prolly be located in 1,2,3 and maybe a 4th one. Only time and version updates will change what happens. Maybe only one bot in sector 7 or 9 would start off. Who knows...

Boasting about Bank Bot is fine and all, but it's just talk. It hasn't been online, for whatever reasons you want to give. BountyBot has been running for 4 months. Put up, or ?
As for SF's comments:
1) It'll announce existing bounties again after 90 minutes if the player talks. This was done because lots of players had an old bounty and no one knew about it. If it's annoying because it annouces a bounty on you when you log in, well, that's by design. Someone put a bounty on you for a reason, and it's just letting everyone know that a bountied player is around.
2) The 0 credits bug has been fixed.
3) Flooding BountyBot with messages has never been a problem. Sure, some player could spend hours tying up the bot, but they'd have to spend their own time doing it, and it would be clear from the logs who it was. Also, the bot continues to process the log in the order messages are recieved, so it's impossible to completely DOS the bot... you can only slow it down.
4) Sure, players can use 1 credit transfers to make BountyBot spam someone. It also tells that player who's sending them the credits, so it seems like it'd be easier to hassle someone by /msging them directly. Changing sectors won't stop that either.
5) BountyBot can live in multiple sectors, but I'm not interested in dedicating more computers to the bot. I've asked the devs for a text-only client, and it's probably number 2 million on their to-do list.
Summary: Drop the sour grapes act and get your alleged kick-ass bot online. If it fills a void, it's better for all of us.
[/me is curious what the off-topic posts were now, since they were deleted before I got to read them. :-/]

I'm not trying to compete with or take anything away from BountyBot, and it's great you have the time and the ability to run it permanently. I'm just saying that you calling BankBot "unfinished and never functional" was bullcrap.
And when I actually get my own flat instead of a crappy dorm room in September, then sure, I will put it online.

Who the **** are you to flame BountyBot - put it up and running instead of claiming that it's "better" (btw how can u claim such a thing as it being somewhat free of the "bountybot" bugs when it's never been truely tested online - you have propebly discovered most big bugs through BountyBot anyway)
The ungreatfull job of developing >=(

All 3 of you shush! Argueing does not get anyone anywhere, well it does get people dead in real life but thats besides the point.
lol - yeah, you have a point there SL =)
BusMasteR: stop being an idiot. BankBot and BountyBot came into existance at around the same time, and I've ran BankBot for about 8hr/day for a week but couldn't keep it up. So it WAS tested online and it works perfectly.
Furthermore, I give away all the code to people if they request, so if you doubt that BankBot is what I claim it is, just ask me for the code.
And, once again, I'm NOT flaming BountyBot's creation. It's a great bot, and I think it's great that someone contributes their time and effort to running it. I'm merely angry that he called my bot, which I also spent a lot of time on, "unfinished and never functional". And I don't claim that my bot is "better", I just pointed out that it might be more "finished" and "functional" than BountyBot.
If you're reffering to my
"Hehe, bankbot is still bettah:)"
comment, well.. you see a smiley there? thats cause I realize that BankBot is virtually non-existant since I can't run it. That post was a joke. J O K E. and the reply it got from BountyBot was uncalled for.
PS I will not post to this thread anymore, for the sake of not starting a flamewar. roman@karachinsky.com is my email.

I did say my oppinion in a rather "idiotic" way - It weren't meant directly at you romikq. I reacted on info at hand (which obviously weren't enough) and towards the common "oh you have made something - well - it's crap" attitude that *too* many people put up. i think it were actually SF's way in putting his words that made me say what i did. I know that you've put lots of time and energy into the making of the bot. I myself have put a great deal of time into the VS thingy that i have been making (especially since i was/am learning perl "on-the-fly") - and i really just dislike when people "look down" at the work someone spend a lot of time doing. When that is said - ofcause BountyBot should have a slap with a cold fish for his comment ;)
