Vendetta Online 1.8.120
Welcome to Vendetta Online 1.8.120
Changelog:
*** Vendetta 1.8.120
- Two new conquerable stations added, in grayspace. Other features
will be appearing, making conquering and holding all three
stations a lucrative prospect. Where are they located? Explore
and find them!
- In statically fogged sectors, the sector list (the "u" menu) now
only shows users within radar range, allowing total concealment
through use of occlusion and fog. In non-fogged sectors and storm
sectors, old behaviour still applies.
- Friendly Fire restrictions have been removed from all but Nation
Capitol systems (Serco/Itani/UIT).
- Active Players list on website now displays Buddies Online for
your logged-in character, and graphs of player populations.

Good progress.
It will be interesting to see how the FF change affects the border conflict outcomes.

Cool. However, why isn't there a conquerable station in Deneb or something? The politics of putting them all in gray basically means it's turning into a pirates vs. everyone else sort of thing. VPR/TGFT/PA (neutral guilds that operate primarily in and around gray) captures the station, their only enemy is pirates, there is currently no reason not to give out keys to non-enemy players and guilds, so they give keys out to pretty much everyone but pirates, including the nationalist guilds they are friendly with. The pirates don't have the numbers to hold on to these stations against the rest of the entire frickin' game, so stations aren't changing hands. Give the nationalists their own stations to fight over near Deneb and we'll have a much more balanced and interesting situation. The nationalists will be busy fighting each other over the Deneb station(s), which will mean they won't have the time or manpower to also help defend the gray space stations from pirates, meaning these stations will have the opportunity to change hands much more frequently.
Well if your looking for competition that can be arranged...
We're looking at Deneb too. But some of that requires a little more work and planning. Content in grayspace is more generally usable by all (including pirates), so we were honestly trying to be non-exclusive for now. Plus, the stations are still a testbed for some work we're doing, so I wanted to have enough of them in gray to try some new multi-station mechanics. One thing at a time.
I expect we'll look at some Deneb stuff this coming week.

EVERYTHING! NEAT!
Definitely a brilliant update. Kudos Devs.
Very Cool!
Strat: good thinking about balancing competition over stations. Here's another idea: perhaps the "lucrative prospect" of holding a station could be diluted by the number of keys given out. That way there would be motivation for a single faction to control a station. If special items were available for purchase, they could be limited to a certain number per day, divided by the number of keys.
