Greetings!
This Saturday night (in the western hemisphere; Sun @ 2:00AM UTC), I will host the first official Capture the Flag event.
You can find a few more details in the Event posting in-game, but if you have questions, they will be answered here. If you have suggestions (a few people have already participated in a buggy game), please make a thread in the Suggestions forum.
(Sorry to be so late in properly announcing this.)

Cool!
This is cool, but I (and possibly some others) won't be able to attend. Might there be a way for the non-American timezoners to have a separate CTF event at a more convenient time, in the future?
So, like 18:00 cst or something. Ya, that won't work.
Damn! I won't be-able to be there :(
I remember CTF it was awesome!!

Yes, we'll certainly host future CTF events at various times, to give those in different time zones, or with different schedules, a chance.
It's not the same CTF as the old one (that code is incompatible with our current system). I never even played the original VO CTF, so this one may bear little resemblance. I based it on the real-life rules I enjoyed most as a kid, with a big dollop of expediency, since this is a tangent from our major development goals.

What if people 'roid the flag?
Then the devs permaban them from vo.

So THIS is the event Inc hinted at! Sounds awesome, I might try to get in-game to check it out!
By "shot" does it mean "destroyed" or just shot once? Or will everyone be in a Centurion Superlight with a rail on it?
The latter, Shank. This iteration will, indeed, favor maneuverable ships and high-v weapons. Feel free to make suggestions for how to make future events more interesting (preferably after actually experiencing it).
Hmmmm, how about if you get shot down to 50% rather than just once?
Mmmm, rails.
