old player considering returning

So I bought this game back when it came out in single boxed form aka SEVERAL years ago. Was ok but I let my supscription lapse..the twitch combat didn't work well for me (more a strategy game player) and was never really that many people around and roleplay seemed somewhat lacking. ((this is not put here to be mean just to say the issues I had with the game)). I am considering returning but thought I would ask what changes have been made to the game. I have gotten better at twitch combat ((spent some time with fps)) and do miss a space based game eve never did it for me. So what changes exist now especially around the issues I have mentioned above...

You having gotten better at twitch combat is going to help the most, probably.

As for playing toward your strategy leanings, the addition of border skirmishes and the conquerable station might be interesting. Sadly, like many things, they're not quite at the "final product" sort of thing. In any event, I say it's a bit more strategy oriented because you have to decide what to bomb, when to bomb and when to switch to a different combat role.

The same goes for the conquerable station.

All this assumes you can find a guild/group of people whom you don't mind flying with. This is less the case with border skirmishes, but it's generally the case that you'll want some wing mates.

Is there a good sercoro guild that is active currently? Has the roleplaying/story changed any?

ONE. ONE is active. Check them out.

ONE is a serco guild, and they're active, but to call them "good" is quite a stretch.

They're also not really "Serco." Their names are red-text, to be sure, but they spend too much time stroking off their Itani lover boys to be Serco.

They know their place.

ooh ooh, I saw a ONE teaming up with a pirate to kill an antipirate! Seems they don't know their place.

You sure that wasn't just Mr. Chaos, post-[CLM] conversion?

Err, I haven't seen ONE fighting VPR recently.

How'd VPR get injected into this? ONE is an active Serco guild, and they're pretty large. That's all I was saying.

Somehow, Itani and their smurf-fellating allies have long been linked with anti-pirate forces. I think it likely goes back to the original [SCAR]'s affinity for privateering, but it may go back even further.

IA/BL Wars

Good point; though I'm unclear on why [IA] decided to take on [BLAK], other than the need for capable opponents.

Maybe BLAK decided to take on IA because Smittens sucks. <3

What he said.

Sigh. Figures Smittens would be the cause of such clusterfuckage.

I mean it wouldn't surprise me...maybe that had other less annoying but more important reasons. All I remember is that IA was full of ninnies.

It was also full of Itani. Coincidence? Definitely not.
