Stress Test
This is a GREAT IDEA and you guys ought to do it. Here's the thread:

do you have plans for a stress test when you would like us 'all' to get on and see what the server can take.
Maby just some event time, then when people log into the game it announces it to them so they woulden't have the visit the message board. Maby play CTF for once!
Still with this 'Database Error' happening it would be a BAD idea to have an event and no one can log in :-P.

Well, it's _always_ stress test time... We've had 25 or so people on at once, but we'd definitely like more.
The database error should now be cleared up, by the way.

couldent you put a message on every time someone logs in then for some official event? say Saturday night 8pm cst (thats 2 pm gmt?). I dont know how many check the message board, but I am sure it is less than than the number of people logging into the game.
when I mean stress test I mean 200+ :-) WOOO!!!
anyhow I am sure you know what you are doing and how to do it better than me.

Yeah. We could try to schedule events. We can post notices on the update server, so that whenever you run the game it shows the message.

I would suggest a weekly event - you're not gonna get 200+ (10%) into a one-off, but given time a regular event could build up to that kind of number.
It would also boost the sense of community, which you tend not to get with only a couple of other players on the server.
On a related note - how about making the scoreboard in the 'neutral' zone show who is in each of the game zones, or at least a count of human players in each?

It would be easy to put a message in the updater... but does anyone actually read that? There sure is a lot of unimportant (to the player) information scrolling past...
But then again, it only takes me about five seconds to update, it might be different for players who have to wait a bit longer.

Actually, the new updater is going to have a status line which it will print the status messages to, instead of scrolling them. The scheduled events would be right at the top of the text box, so it would be hard to miss unless you weren't looking.
Can you imagine having, say, 75 people in sector 7, 25 people in sector 8, so on and so forth... Picture a flag cap with 100 people on each side! This would be the greatest thing EVER. Devs, do this please!

bah we should wait till 3.3 since it's pretty close (hey 2months maybe, but that's close, took 6months for 3.2).
a spam stress test (5+ people spamming) was sorta kinda planned, but it hasn't happened. yet.
/me wonders if any devs have anything to say 'bout this...
