How many active subscribers do you guys have?

The game has a really nice idea and all, but are there seriously only 21 people online at a time?

At least tell me the maximum amount of people this game has had. :-)

while not a dev this game has a couple thousand subs I believe. Oh and most players are in the USA. Generally when i play there are around 50 people online. (usually afternoons/weekends)

I'm in europe and play mostly on evenings. There are usually between 20 and 60 people. I've seen more than hundred in a few occasions (special events like The Dark Convoy).

Sure, it's nice when there are more players, but I never felt I was alone or spent a night without meeting someone while traveling.

That said...I never expected deep space to be very crowded. Somehow, it can be seen as a realistic aspect of the game ;)

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet, but in-game a lot of people interact in grey space. They player density there is a lot higher than elsewhere. Just be aware that greyspace can be dangerous.

Have you heard of the how-many-jelly-beans-in-a-jar experiment?

The idea is that people, individually, cannot make accurate estimations. However, if you take a large sample of estimations and average them out, you get surprisingly close to the actual number.

I think we can try an experiment here -- everyone post their estimation on how many active subscribers are there currently. After averaging the numbers we should be pretty close. Perhaps a dev can tell us (in percent) how far off we were.

ladron, I'm basing my estimation on how many players I see online at a time. Maybe it's a little off. Maybe that's part of the game and done on purpose.
