DirectX 9.0B is here!
I tried going to Microsoft.com and IE sent me to the search page.
And people ask me why I use Macs.

yes I do have a 1mb video card, its made by some foreign industry. and yes it does run DX9
Is any body else having trouble conecting to the Microsoft site?
DirectX 9 shouldn't affect Vendetta's performance at all because it only uses 8 and the card itself doesn't support it (hardware wise).
Yes DirectX9 can have an affect on DirectX9 games with non-directX9 cards, but not as much.

It does wonders, I have a 1mb video card and everything is set at either the highest setting or one below and I get just above 20FPS in 9 and 12 :D

and @ devs: Update the DirectX driver to at least 9.0? pleeeease? :P

i ran windows update and bagged the latest version of directx for the hell of it. i'll try Vendetta later to see if there's any significant improvment.
I doubt that you're really running at highest setting or one below (including texture resolution, resolution, colors, etc) and getting 20fps with a 1mb vid card.
Direct X 9 can only be used if your video card supports it. A 1mb video card will not support DX9 because well I don't know many video cards these days that are made by NVidia or ATI have only 1mb worth of memory they more have like 64,128,256mb.
I don't think you really understand the function and nature of DX SF.
DirectX is essentially an API- Application Program Interface.
Basically, it makes it so Guild does not have to program a specific graphics engine for every model and make of video card.
Instead, guild just has to make the graphics engine on par with what DirectX requires for programming in order to be accelerated in the graphics hardware. Same with OpenGL. (kinda)
Basically, it's the interface between Vendetta, and your video card's, (or any other piece of hardware's) device driver.
anyone, correct me if I'm wrong.

HumpyThePenguin what card would this be? Got a link to a website?
ugh alienb21 i already knew that...i was basicly saying what blaster was...where there won't be much difference. Basicly pointless to worry about it if you don't have DX9 supported.

The only benefit to DX9 support in Vendetta would be to add DX9 shaders to the game (or other DX9-specific features). It shouldn't have any performance impact. We will probably add (Pixel|Vertex) Shader 2.0 features at some point in the future, but it's not a priority at the moment. If we do add such features, a DX9-class card (GF FX, Radeon 9500 or better) would be required to see them.

maybe the site went down for a short time? and it's possible that your ISP's DNS servers had a temporary f**k up. that happens with my ISP from time to time.

Umm no...the news was that EVERY microsoft related webserver went down. Everything from msn to support.microsoft.com. It was down for a little bit but not that long.
hmm... maybe i should keep up on the news then.
