There is a newspost:

Partially about the new company website (a lot of content yet to be added, but the design is there):

Can't wait for station conquest! Any hint as to where they might be? (conquerable stations, that is)

I haven't sat down and looked at that yet. I expect to do so next week. If people have thoughts on potential locations, I welcome a Suggestions Forum post on the topic. We'll probably start out with one or two stations, perhaps eventually rolling out around five. I think that's reasonable for current grayspace size. I'd also like to have some of them "hidden" in fogged sectors and the like. Stations embedded inside ice or asteroids. Perhaps the "S" icon only appearing for those who have the key, etc.

Yes, please. Anything that requires new exploration is a Very Good Thing.

I think simple sites, so thank you for making your companies site simple :] And thank you for not using IFrames to display your content.

As for station conquest, I probably won't have much use for them, especially since the first batch will be in grey, but I can see where this is going and am excited for whats to come. Player owned cappies! I'm definitely getting a mining barge and owning Deneb -_-

Edit: And yes, the 'S' icon only showing to people who have access to the station would be a very good thing.

I can't help but notice the prominent mention of the "Vendetta 2.0 goals" in the company information page. I would be interested to know what those goals actually are. How do you envision Vendetta 2.0, and how different will it really be from what we have now?
Jan 16, 2010 incarnate link
That's the same description that has been on the company page for years. I just copy/pasted for now, until I get around to writing new content.

I haven't published the feature list for 2.0, but yes, it is intended to be quite a bit different from what we have currently. Both in new features, as well as more widespread use of existing features (things like periodic declarations of war between minor factions, in gray, using a more polished version of the dynamic warfare system we're testing in Deneb; continual conflict/peace then powers letters of marque/privateering and other content). 1.8 to 1.9 is intended to be the "fix-it" version, where we've corrected a lot of issues (like faction system, economy, clearly not fixed yet.. we're not at 1.9), 1.9 to 2.0 is the real intended Next Generation, although a lot of the underpinnings are already being laid.

I will post a formal bullet-point list eventually. I just worry about posting those things, as goals continually get derailed. But, I'm intending to update that as part of the whole "making trac public" thing (which I am still trying to do).

I like the News and the new website. It's been a long haul, but Soon is actually soon.

I'm going to take a shot at the music internship.

Defeating the defenses of these stations (disabling all the turrets, for now) will allow the first person to dock to take control of the station, initiating the key system for authentication and access control.

Remember, the enemy's gate is down!

Inc: cool. Now that you mention it I do remember reading that on the original GS site, but that was a long time ago.

I also have a minor suggestion. Guild Software has a really cool logo. Use that for the guildsoftware.com favicon, rather than the VO icon. The VO icon there just looks out of place.

ladron: yup, already thought of it, just haven't gotten around to it yet. The old favicon is left over from the old site.

Inc: Under products, and this is an incredibly minor issue, would it be possible to have it display the content plus youtube video without having that one-line scroll in the box?
Jan 17, 2010 maq link
I think the scrollboxes are totally unnecessary.
Also dunno if it's a bug but for me it seems like the page is sized vertically as if they weren't there anyway. (I'm using opera)
Jan 17, 2010 skelbley08 link
Yeah, the page is sized normally. And I agree, the scrollboxes might not be necessary, as there's only one product at the moment.
