peytros: Uhh.. no. And rating floors are common, but they have tradeoffs, ours is designed towards our common cases. There is no ideal statistical model for rankings, there are a number of ways of going about it, we just tweaked ours a little to improve things for us. Nothing we did has a real downside to players, beyond the fact that ratings don't inflate stupidly fast, so you can't selective-pair your way to 4000 as quickly. If anything, it should make dueling better, as highly-ranked players won't be risking losing as much rating in a random loss.
There's still no way for us to easily work around selective pairing in the current system (two individuals fighting each other over and over again), so whenever we create a proper Duel Tournament system, there will probably be a second set of ranking numbers that are exclusively based on Tournament results (which will be paired randomly, and not up to the player).

Now that we're keeping proper score of duels, could we get Capture the Flag back too?
You mean fixing stuff about CtC? Or re-implementing some form of CTF? (and if so, which one? the super-old Alpha version with many flags per sector, or the old Alpha version of 3-flags, either way would be better off in a Suggestions post).
For now, we're kinda focused on fixing bot behaviour and implementing station conquest. That will take us awhile, especially if we want to pull off the "station conquest in January" thing. If you guys have trivial changes you want, like little stats-calc things, we can try and slot those in between other big projects. Re-implementing old CTF is not necessarily trivial.

I don't know, I never was around when we played it. Some kind of single sector arena with a station to deliver the flag to and launch from on each end and a flag bot that spawns and parks above the station that holds the flag widget. Hopefully there are some mechanics in place that could do a simple CTF game. I was suggesting just for fun, since we're getting duel stuff upgraded, CTF might be in the same vein.
the 9 sector 3 flag CTF would be neat. along with the old wormhole "rings"!
