I know there's a stat for how many are online at the moment, but it'd be interesting to know how many subscribers there are.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Goodbye.
I'm sorry? But yes, this is ofc, a trial account.
Lecter, sod off.
permafrost... those numbers aren't released. but there are enough to make the game fun, and we do welcome newcomers!

Thanks, jw, I'm used to games like wow, and I thought I'd give this a try given its similarity to eve in many respects.
"but there are enough to make the game fun"
I hope there will be a day in the future when we do not have to answer such a question in a diplomatic manner.
Permafrost, there are not enough players but the game is fun anyway. I pay, I play .. and I hope there will be more one day.

You owe me an apology, Atice.
You owe me an apology, Atice.
I'd say this game shares many of the same characteristics as eve.
What is that which is so different?
What is that which is so different?
except for the space pretext, everything else is different. not enough time now to give you the details, but i'll be back later if noone else does.
but have you played?
but have you played?
ive played a bit of vendetta so far..and like 3 hours of eve, but ive read a lot on it, and watched vids so i (hopefully) understand a decent amount. (eve)
Apparently not.
What's with all the hostility towards me?
The playerbase on vendetta is much smaller than eve's, yes, and the level of transactions is lower. But there are many similar concepts are there not? If I'm wrong..please elaborate on why this is so.

Goodbye
Thanks Lecter. That was outstanding. A tear was shed:)

Oh, and welcome aboard permafrost. Hope to see you in-game:)
If you seriously don't understand why people are hostile toward you then maybe your internet-based self-diagnosis of asperger's isn't all that far off.
PS:
Anyone know how many people actually use reddit? Isn't it just like digg?

..I'm gonna guess that you despise eve online, or something of that sort, and I really do not know as much as I should about this game.
No need to call me autistic over this.
No need to call me autistic over this.
Main differences:
--------------------------------------
Eve is a real-time strategy game; you click to move the ship. In a battle between two players, usually the one with higher levels and better equipment wins.
Vendetta is a twitch combat game; you are actually in control of the ship. If a high-level person who completely sucks at fighting runs into a low-level player who is fantastic at dogfighting and dodging, they could take out the higher-level player without even taking any damage.
Basically:
-------------------------
EvE is about leveling. Click to move.
Vendetta is about skill/practicing. Keyboard/joystick to move.
It's the difference between, say, "Command and Conquer" and "Halo".
Hope that clears things up. While Eve and VO both have mining, trading, combat, etc, the implementation is different. Glad to have you, hope you choose to stay with us!

For the record, Lecter and Genka are known trolls. The more you ignore them, the happier you'll be (especially Lecter, since he's a lawyer irl and more prone to playing mind-games with you than his moniker's namesake).
As for any percieved similarities with EvE, well...thats a matter of long-standing bitterness on our part since the EvE developers got all the investors the VO devs had been pining for for years, but had been told off because they didn't think a SpaceMMORPG would be "worth it". So EvE has gotten all the publicity and development capitol, while VO (which we hard-core lot feel is a superior product) has had to make due with what the devs can scrape together. Considering we've got a grand total a four developers who pay for the game almost entirely without outside support, I feel that the game has made remarkable progress over the years.
Admittedly, there are some superficial similarities between the games, but as for the matter of how each game actually plays, they're almost entirely different. In EvE, how good you are depends on your experience points, so a new player will always be playing catch-up to the older ones. VO, however, is skill-based (thanks largely due to its 'twitch-based' user-interface), so how good you are depends on...how good you are.
Furthermore, VO has actually been around a fair bit longer (although both games went "gold" around the same time), so any perceived similarities are due to EvE being like VO, not VO being like EvE. Seriously, though, I think VO has more in common with Jumpgate.
I think at one point the Devs mentioned once that we had some thousands of subscribers, although I imagine that that number is quite out-of-date. As far as in-game is concerned, however, the player count usually hovers around 50 people at any given time (although it can sometimes peak higher than that).
The player-base is, admittedly, small, which often discourages new players from staying and so it remains small. The fact that some older players have become embittered by this has only worsened the matter, as it masks the friendly, tightly-knit community we've built over the years. Its smallness does have one advantage: everyone knows everyone else, so its not difficult to make a name for yourself.
I hope that was edifying. Any more questions?

To be fair, that 50 players is the peek, not the average or even minimum. I do not count these last days with vets in for free. Anyway, today it is below 50 already. 47 ATM including IRC, momerath42, #PA, idlers ...
Before the free vet days, the average peak was below 50, often far less. In the morning, there usually are only few players, 100 is quiet. Before the big 5k promo, it often was less than 10. That's why I call this the main problem and why I am whining about it all the time.
You can check for some charts here.
Furthermore, you have to subtract some percentage of players because some of them are in training sectors. They do not play with us in fact. You cannot meet them and the only interaction goes on 100.
Am I trying to say VO is not worth subscribing? Hell no! It is worth it and you can get whole month of fun for the price of a pizza. I, personally, pay for two accounts and I have never felt sorry about spending the money. So, ... enjoy permafrost and give it a try!

Welcome permafrost
As for subscribers, there are a lot more than you see activity wise, because even those of us that dont have a lot of time at the moment to be in the game, support it. I know lots keep active subscriptions going even when not playing.
The difference between Eve and VO is usually summed up by saying that Eve is an interactive screensaver, whereas VO as has been mentioned, requires actual skill to succeed at.
So if you are really interested in VO, hop into a ship, try out the combat, it is one of the biggest draws at the moment. Do that and soon you will understand why there is such strong emotion attached. :)
