The scanner is available to everyone at capitol stations. I think Smittens was remarking that the new cargo scanner tempts him to re-subscribe. And now, a disparaging comment:

Sort of, although I deplore the fact that you do not read manga (as I do with every person who does not).

In the manga, in-time video editing is used to spin the truth and present a state of affairs differing from the actual one (aiding in taking over the world...). I just thought it was something like that.

And ISWYDT is *so* last year. Making slightly obscure references to Japanes populr culture is much more fun, at least for me.

The plot reminds me a bit of William Gibson's "Idoru". I don't know why somebody hasn't pulled that stunt yet.
