Well done devs!

I wish they had 2 or 1 grid usage like other scanners so that you could use it along with a Widowmaker. But I do not mean to detract; this is a very nice addition. :)

fucking brilliant. well done.

Cargo Scanner BUGS:

-The scanner scans everything, regardless of drops. BAD
-The scanner scans cargo drops that DONT DROP! BAD!
-The scanner doesn't scan stuff that's in range, seemingly randomly, which is BAD!

Good effort, please make it work now.

Works for me.

That sounds pretty cool.

Impavid:

A fix for the range thing is in place, which works in any sector that hasn't been running for more than an hour (all but the few that player bots sit in).

There were two bugs causing convoy bots not to drop cargo (we changed the way stuff gets dropped). A fix for one was pushed out similarly to the one above, and I'm testing a fix for the other right now (which will require a restart).

I assume the first "bug" you mentioned is in regard to things which are blacklisted from dropping; I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to see what they're carrying, even if its chance of dropping is 0%.

please make auxilary ports for ships now
Dec 05, 2009 toshiro link
Yes, please. Gadget ports would make sense. Perhaps only for some ships, not all?

I has no spare port on me hog for such a useless item, so i guess i'll keep opening up ships to look what's inside : )

Though the item has its place just among the storm extender, radar/com jammers, clocking device, electronic counter measures etc...

Nice try, bleed well : )

Convoy traders should always be carrying something (as evidenced by the scanner and their remains). Please let us know if you see otherwise; it would represent a new bug.

Yeah, make AUX ports NOW please. Without utility ports, this new shiny addon will end like all the others. Everyone will hurry to buy some and try them. Few days later, nobody wants to dedicate one valued weapon port for it and all the scanners end on the same pile with radar extenders.

My suggestions:

1) Make AUX ports - at least one on every ship
2) Remove grid usage from tools
3) Make storm extenders lighter like cargo scanner is

Now, since we are in the buy & try phase, let's play!

Just popped a moth, 120x Pentric Mining Beam scanned. Actual drop - only 6x scrap, oh crap.

Please make (or reprise) your suggestions in the Suggestions thread.

Re Utility Ports: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/22405

@Inco: Ouch on the moth. Don't some things not always drop through? Honestly, I don't know how this stuff works though... I don't even know the last time I popped a moth (probably when I last killed Maalik in UIT).

I'm not sure on the convoy stuff, but for more static ships, things do not always drop. There's a percentage chance. Basically, you can look at it that destroying a ship may also destroy the "stuff" onboard.

great job devs! But anyways i can't say i like feature of scanning ur weapon set too, but... better with it, then without cargo scanner and scanner blocker :) TY for gameplay!

scanned an NPC behemoth heavy just now. Said it wasn't carrying cargo.

Then you most assuredly have a new bug.

This has nothing to do with what we're all observing. First, your statement is vague: "stuff"? Usually that's been true of just equipped items--are you saying that you changed it to include cargo now, too? Second, what we're seeing is entire voys full of stuff one sector, that are magically empty the next.
